Os Gemeos x Hennessy – VS Cognac Bottle Launch (Los Angeles)

Brazilian duo Os Gemeos (featured) continued their tour to celebrate the launch of Hennessy’s newest artist VS Bottles. This time it was on the west coast and the good folks of Los Angeles had an opportunity to enjoy twins talent and their vibrant Brazilian vibe. Much like the New York Launch event, Otavio got the crowd going with a lively DJ set on the wheels of steel. Instead of Nas headlining this show, it was West Coast legend Warren G that anchored the amazing night of music performance […]

We recently attended the public unveiling of the new Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) mural created by KAWS we first previewed at night. The new mural location also contains a bike rack specially designed by David Byrne. This sculpture/rack entitled “Bold Wink” is a perfect eye catcher to grab some eyeballs as BAM patrons can see this new project opposite the institution’s Peter Jay Sharp building. This new mural space measures 20×24 foot and is the first in a planned series of murals that will rotate in […]

Previews: David Ellis – “Hudson River Alley” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

David Ellis returns to the Joshua Liner Gallery for a solo show entitled Hudson River Alley—a name that seems to be a play on New York’s Hudson River Valley, near Woodstock, where Ellis recently relocated from Brooklyn. We stopped by the gallery for a quick peak and saw a varied collection of new works in many of the mediums Ellis is know for, such as glossy acrylic paintings, kinetic sculptures and tobacco-stained works on paper, with imagery capturing elements of the bucolic environment where he […]

Upcoming: Barry McGee @ Cheim & Read

Tomorrow night (September 12) in New York, Cheim & Read will be presenting a show from Barry McGee, his first solo with the gallery and in the Big Apple in 8 years. One of the most influential graffiti and street artists from the Bay Area, McGee has “assembled clusters of framed drawings and hand-painted wood panels accompany loose stacks of embellished surfboards, fetish-like wooden objects, and specially-made furniture.” Sounds like this is one of the must attend shows of the year if you are in the area… so […]
