Streets: Cyrcle. – “Capture The Flag!” @ Walk & Talk Festival (Azores Islands)

Recently, Los Angeles art collective Cyrcle. spent time in Portugal for their latest exhibition titled “Capture the Flag! : Conquer the Divide!” (covered). However, they also participated in the Walk & Talk Azores Festival, which featured a great variety of both Portuguese and international artists such as Vhils, El Tono, Nespoon and Topo. Cyrcle. certainly didn’t waste any time while they were in Azores and as we can see from this mural, their style continues to evolve both in style and in theme. Touching on the subject of the […]

Showing: Kenny Scharf – “Pop Renaissance” @ Honor Fraser

We recently stopped by Honor Fraser in Los Angeles to take in the current showing from Kenny Scharf (interviewed) entitled Pop Renaissance. Split into separate rooms, the two body of works exhibited are well demarcated by both content and space. One room features some newer works inspired by Scharf’s love for the Flintstones while the other section hosted work from when he covered the ceiling of the Palazzo Communale in Italy over a decade ago (the silkscreened canvases were then painted over with his iconic characters at […]

Showing: Titi Freak – “In A Dream” @ Black Book Gallery

Earlier this month, the Black Book Gallery in Denver opened In A Dream, a new solo from Titi Freak. Sending over works from Brazil, the artist known for his street art made his heritage and his two years apprenticing in Japan count by letting their influence shine through. The new body of work is centered around a large 10 panel wood piece featuring a koi fish, and supported by loose portraits as well as a wall of leaves. Take a look at more photos from the exhibition below… Photos via […]

Petition To Repaint “FREE MANDELA” Slogan In Cape Town

The South Africa-based Faith47 has started a petition to gain permission to repaint the iconic”FREE MANDELA” slogan in Capetown. As part of the anti-graffiti bylaw that has been passed, many of the historic artworks on the streets have been buffed, leading to a loss of some of the important cultural relics of those tumultuous times. Check out the petition here and support it with a signature if it so moves you.

Upcoming: KAWS @ Galerie Perrotin (New York)

For those of you who like to plan your art calendar a little in advance, a trip to New York (if you aren’t in the area) may need to be arranged if you are a KAWS fan. Although he has had some pretty high profile projects (MTV & Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade) and shows around the world (Switzerland, Japan, Paris, Hong Kong) in the interim, stateside admirers of his work haven’t seen a proper exhibition since early last year in Atlanta. So there is much to celebrate […]

The truck has now traveled to Los Angeles and is currently located at 7600 Beverly Blvd until 7 pm tonight if you want to get your photo taken and participate. For future locations (next stop is Las Vegas) you can follow the plans on their website or Instagram. Discuss JR here.

Upcoming / Streets: Nychos – “Silly Slicesophy” @ Mighty Tanaka (New York)

After recently gifting San Francisco with a new mural, Nychos has headed to the other coast for a showing in New York. Silly Slicesophy will open Friday night (August 9th) in Brooklyn at the Mighty Tanaka. As referred to in the title, the Austrian artist will be taking his knife to classic Disney characters (like Mickey above), and dissecting them in a style he often uses on the streets. Speaking of which, he just painted a new killer whale piece for his fans in NY (seen below). Photo […]

Streets: Liqen (Vodnjan, Croatia)

Spanish artist Liqen was recently in Vodnjan, Croatia where he painted a new colorful surreal mural for Boombarstick Festival. Even though he had some difficulties with the wall he was assigned, and later with his back pain, he managed to finish another rich and beautiful image on the main street of this cute small town. Made entirely with a brush and acrylic paint, this large scale street painting shows a psychedelic image, which is a part of a dream he actually had on his 1st night in Croatia. […]
