Over the holiday weekend, Thinkspace in Culver City played host to the opening of Marvelous Expeditions, a showing of work from Dabs Myla as well as a series of 16 x 20″ pieces from their friends. Openings: José & Rey Parlá – “U.T.O.P.I.A.” @ colette

Parisian house colette in France just opened the eagerly awaited new exhibition titled U.T.O.P.I.A. (previewed) featuring new collaborative works from the Parlá Brothers. The Brooklyn-based siblings placed a series of paintings on the walls featuring a melding of José’s urban calligraphy and Rey’s playful arrangement of colors and lines as evidence of their artistic dialogue. Art fans in Los Angeles tonight (7-10pm) may want to check out the opening of A&C Shop at the HVW8 Gallery. Fame Fest ’12: Interesni Kazki

Artistic duos in the street art scene don’t often work on their own, but Interesni Kazki has done so on multiple occasions. This is exactly what happened for this year’s Fame Festival, as AEC left his brother and headed over to Grottaglie to get up on his own. Last week, we broke news about the Brothers Parlá and their tandem show entitled U.T.O.P.I.A at colette in France. This upcoming weekend, Dabs Myla and Thinkspace will be presenting the show Marvelous Expeditions. The group exhibition will feature new work and installations by the artist couple but it will also feature work from 32 of their closest friends including Augustine Kofie, Greg Lamarche, Logan Hicks, Meggs and Revok to name a few. Streets: Tanker Mural Collaboration (Copenhagen)

Artists Simon Hjermind Jensen, Theis Wendt, Anders Schmidt and Silas Inoue recently completed a pretty sweet collaboration mural in Odinsgade, Copenhagen featuring a giant tanker. Utilizing architectural elements like the chimney as well as existing graffiti, the grounded ship is a striking addition to the capital of Denmark. Coming up at the end of next month (Sept 27th), street sculptor and photographer Slinkachu will be opening a new show at Andipa Gallery in London. Entitled Global Model Village, the exhibition will feature a mix of installations placed in different cities around the world in the course of his travels (like the piece seen above from New York).
