Made has a new video (via Beautiful/Decay) where they interview American artist Kevin Earl Taylor, who was in Berlin a few months ago for his exhibition Deviant Instinct at Circleculture Gallery. There’s not much info out on this, but thought we would mention it for our readers in the Bay Area tonight (April 14th). Barry McGee, who’s a legend up there, will be revealing an installation at Gallery Paule Anglim’s offsite space (1717 17th Street in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill district) along with some other invited artists. The reception if 3-6 pm so head over early if you don’t want to miss it. This should a nice warmup for McGee’s upcoming PRISM showing in Los Angeles. […]

The answer is probably nobody – which is why a steady stream of artists of late have been seen working on collaborations with the French photographer including Liu Bolin, Cyrcle., Jose Parla, and now David Lynch (just to name a few). While in Hong Kong for his Journey is the Reward showing (covered) at the Above Second Gallery, Aussie street artist Meggs also took time to leave his mark on the walls around the city. In the photo above, you can see his collaboration with locals Xeme & Sinic on a phoenix inspired mural. Other notables from HK include the shutters of the gallery as well as a re-occuring ghost image that plays on the slang for non-Asian foreigners in town. More photos after the jump…

The Northern Cali-based ABOVE (interviewed) continued his many travels with a recent trip to South Africa. On arrival, the street muralist turned his attention to an issue that he felt strongly about – blood diamonds – and went about figuring what the best way to get his message across was. Streets: Phlegm (Isle of Man)

Street muralist Phlegm recently came across an abandoned pool on the Isle of Man and immediately knew what to do. Befitting the location next to the sea and true to his longstanding love affair with marine imagery, the Sheffield-based artist painted a large sea creature with one of his signature characters in tow. Adding an added layer of complexity was the background filled with years of graf work. More photos after the jump…

Streets: D*Face (New York)

In March, D*Face (interviewed) paid a visit to New York City for a little Armory Week action. Not only did he hit up the Scope Art Fair (more on that later), he also left his mark on the streets by hand painting murals in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Despite freezing temperatures, D worked the bricks with new imagery to delight the senses in both SOHO & Williamsburg. AM’s Joe Russo was on the scene to catch the action, check it out after the jump.

After our first curatorial experience last year in Hong Kong with the East West Connect exhibition, our next project is a little closer to home. Entitled City of Fire, this new show in Los Angeles will again bring together a diverse list of artists that we have admired and covered through the years here on AM. We’ll be revealing more details soon as we draw closer to the opening in June.
