Openings: Armsrock – “Nocturne On A Drainpipe Flute” (Copenhagen)

Armsrock (interviewed) recently opened up a show in Copenhagen at the Wonderland Art Space entitled Nocturne On A Drainpipe Flute. No stranger to the art of projection as the Danish artist has participated in multiple light projects, this show features 210 drawings on 7 different looping projectors including many of the “images of unrest” that we love.

Known for their hanging wooden shoes, it looks like they hung up something different this time above the cleverly incorporated door for this street piece. More Christmas greetings come from street miniature photographer Slinkachu. This piece in London entitled Maz + Joe is a twist on the usual story this time of year with Mary riding something other than a Donkey, but it looks like all the places to sleep are still full. Streets: WK Interact (Paris)

It looks like Paris recently received a hefty dose of WK Interact and also may have gotten a glimpse at a different side of the NY-based artist. The bondage-inspired works were considerably smaller than the huge mural WK just completed in Mexico (covered), but nevertheless, still made a strong impact on the City of Lights. AM recently had the pleasure of attending a special group show curated by our friend Wendy Asher, who you may remember from her appearance in Exit Through the Gift Shop. Held at Indica on 11th (now known as Mallick Williams) in Chelsea, the show featured fresh works from Tobias Keene, Laura Keeble, Paul Hazelton, K-Guy and Nicolas Bowers. The Wynwood Walls was a very unique project that brought the arts back to a worn down district of Miami. You may remember earlier this year, July to be exact, when we shared some photos with you of the traveling museum exhibition TRANSFER when it opened at the Brazilian Cultural Pavilion. Well, Barry McGee, whom we last saw at Art Basel Week, had a part in that exhibition and here is footage to prove it. Revelries of unrestrained passions, secret desires, and violent indulgences invaded the New Image Art Gallery recently with the opening of Cleon Peterson’s newest show – Daybreak (previewed). Drawing inspiration from Nietzsche’s Daybreak: Reflections on Moral Prejudices, Peterson seeks to graphically explore both the light and dark sides of the human condition. As you will see, in addition to his usual action-packed landscapes, there were also some interesting abstract works included in this new body of work. More opening images after the jump…
