Streets: LX One & Remi/Rough in Strasbourg

Two parts of the Agents of Change collective – LX One and Remi/Rough – were recently in Strasbourg to paint a large wall as part of the 10th anniversary party for French-cool store RZO. The combination of Remi’s abstract work alongside LX’s geometric patterns caught our eyes when we saw some photos of the work like the one above. AM asked Remi about the trip and he sent us a mini-travelogue. Check it out along with some more flicks from LX One after the jump.

Preview: Neck Face – “Into Darkness” @ OHWOW (LA)

With violent imagery and crude commentary, all wrapped up in a huge ball of satire, Neck Face will be triggering our collective fears with his newest solo exhibition, Into Darkness (teased). Opening on Halloween Sunday, the street artist has brought together an impressive collection of gouche and watercolor drawings, acrylic and enamel paintings and mixed media sculptures to OHWOW’s Hollywood pop-up gallery. A full-scale haunted house and skate demo will nicely round out the presentation for attendees, bringing the experiences into the fourth-dimension. If last […]

Releases: ESPO “Superfeen” print

We just came across Stephen Powers aka ESPO’s updated website, First and Fifteenth, this morning and saw that there is a host of back catalog goodness available, such as this ‘Superfeen‘ screenprint on plastic from 2002. They come from an edition of 300, but we assumed they were long sold out. Grab one now, as it looks as ESPO is signing each one with a punchline to the storyboard and a hand drawn image of everyone’s favorite weakest super-hero. The wonderful ‘Handy Signs’ print is […]

Openings: El Mac & Damon Soule – “The Humble and Sublime” & “Tessellating Pigments” @ Joshua Liner Gallery

We are a little late with this but we stopped by the Joshua Liner Gallery a couple weeks ago to check out the joint show from Mac and Damon Soule. You may remember the pictures we posted of the street piece Mac gifted New York with while he was in town, but equally impressive were the large paintings he bought for the galllery entitled “The Humble and Sublime”, all inspired by the people he encounters on his travels. Not only does his signature patterned technique […]

Studio Visits / Preview: Faile – “Bedtime Stories” @ Perry Rubenstein Gallery Part 1

2010 looked to be a light year for the Brooklyn collective known as Faile (featured). Initially it was just a simple show at a “little gallery” known as Gagosian. Then in Feburary, a hand crafted arcade experience popped up in London. By Spring they created a new arcade show in NYC. Summer brought them to PortugalArte ‘10 where they installed an iconic “temple” in vintage Faile fashion. Between all that, they somehow found time to put together a book and hold a popup shop in the […]

Coming up next month big shows from the likes of Greg Simkins, Joe Sorren, Josh Keyes, ROA, Nate Frizzell, Laurie Lipton, Rosson Crow, Faile, Femke Hiemstra, Kaws, the big Street/Studio 2.0 show at Irvine […]

Streets: El Mac Mural in Chelsea

When El Mac was in town for his show “The Humble and Sublime” at Joshua Liner Gallery last week, he also laid down some work in the streets of New York. He labored through both rain and shine to create this little gem on the corner of 10th Ave & 26th St. in Chelsea. We like the radiant glow that this piece exudes. Check out more images of the completed piece after the jump.

Previews: David Choe & James Jean – “LA Secret Studio” in Tokyo

Remember when we brought you an inside look into David Choe’s (featured), & James Jean’s (interviewed) secret Bat Cave in Los Angeles? Well, the dynamic duo has decided to take this concept to Japan and put on a pop-up show in Shibuya. The citizens in the “Land of the Rising Sun” will be waking up to an exhibition featuring the works from these two cutting edge artists from the City of Angels and will have an opportunity to purchase James’ “Liber Novus” and Dave’s “Tokyo Girl” prints. This […]

Teaser: Aakash Nihalani – “Overlap” @ Bose Pacia

Geometrically inclined Aakash Nihalani will be opening a new show at the Bose Pacia Gallery in New York on November 4th. After taking the next step in converting his public tape installations to cut aluminum gallery pieces for an LA show earlier this year, we are looking forward to what the creative street artist will bring next. Expect the new body of work to include “photography, sculpture, tape installation, painting, and interactive digital imagery”. A more revealing look at Aakash’s photographic wizardry after the jump…

Openings: TrustoCorp – “New Americana” @ Gallery 1988 (LA)

Saturday night at the Los Angeles branch of Gallery 1988, Trustocorp brought his special brand of cynicism to the very city where much of his biting satire finds its target. The show, entitled “New Americana” highlights much of what is wrong with this country through the signature remastered street signs, tongue-in-cheek depictions of what the typical American male and female are comprised of, altered products, and like his show NY – mock carnival games. Also, a souped-up shopping cart in collaboration with speaker company Klipsch […]
