The worlds of art and fashion design often collide, and it seems that Dan Baldwin’s (interviewed) multi-layered textures are soon to make it onto the clothing racks of London’s well-heeled fashionistas. Dan is no stranger to working in different mediums, and we think that his art fits pretty well on these silk linings and fabrics used in collaboration with British fashion designer Sara Berman on her upcoming 2010 autumn collection. Armory Week ’10: First Look at The Armory Show

We had a chance to take a first look at this year’s enormous Armory Show, which officially opened in NYC yesterday. After spending most of the afternoon, we still felt like we had rushed through the contemporary half of the fair shown on Pier 94, and we didn’t even get to Pier 92, the other half which focuses on modern art. When we visited Thinkspace a couple weeks ago to check out Damon Soule’s solo show, we also took in the “Fresh” group show in the project room. The appropriately named show featured some new young talent on the Silverlake gallery’s roster including Linnea Strid (seen above), Josie Morway, and Jacub Gagnon among others. Streets: Below Las Vegas with Logan Hicks

Inspired by Matt O’Brien’s book “Beneath the Neon – Life and Death in the Las Vegas Tunnels”, Logan Hicks (interviewed) recently took an interesting look at the massive system of drainage tunnels underneath the city of sin. Portions of the more than 300 miles of subterranean passageways are covered in graffiti and the feel of the place kind of reminds us of the underground work of Brazilian street artist Zezao. Christina Ray Gallery (formerly Glowlab) and Fountain Art Fair are behind an unique group exhibition to benefit Transformazium, an emerging collaborative arts center in Braddock, Pennsylvania.
