Benefits: 2016 MTV RE:DEFINE Auction

Every year, the MTV RE:DEFINE Auction raises money for the Dallas Contemporary and MTV Staying Alive Foundation (HIV awareness and prevention). The fifth edition this year is no different with the online auction on Paddle8 which culminates which an art and music showcase on April 8th. Streets: Tristan Eaton (Tampa)

Last weekend, Tristan Eaton spent some time painting a mural on the side of Bern’s Steak House in Tampa, Florida. The piece (arranged by CASS Contemporary) on the 60 x 30 foot was created in the LA-based artist’s signature patchwork style to honor the restaurant’s 60th anniversary and features Florida panthers intertwined with classical statues. Streets: Rustam Qbic (Kiev, Ukraine)

Previously seen as an ink drawing and oil on canvas piece, the “Labyrinth” image from Rustam Qbic recently took form as a large mural in Kiev, Ukraine, officially marking the beginning of the Art United Us project. Streets: ROA (Belgium)

Last week, ROA returned to his home country of Belgium to participate in the Crystal Ship Festival on the streets of Ostend. The muralist decided to paint some of his favorite imagery that fans have seen from him the past – a stack of animals. Other artists slated to participate include 1010, Fintan Magee, Guido Van Helten, Pixel Pancho, Robert Montgomery, Ella & Pitr, Agostino Iacurci, Faith47, Ever, Cyrcle, JAZ, Elian, Isaac Cordal, Biancoshock & Zio Ziegler. Releases: Saber – “Refulgent” Color Studies On Paper

Inspired by some recent paintings (example above) he has been working on called the “Refulgent” series, SABER (interviewed) has recently released some color studies on paper (seen below) for purchase on his website. These pieces on textured water color paper were created using spraypaint, acrylic, charcoal pencil, and oil stick and help loosen the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist up before he tackles the larger paintings like the one seen above. Showing: Vhils – “Debris” @ HOCA Foundation (Part I)

As part of his solo exhibition with the HOCA Foundation in Hong Kong, Alexandre Farto aka Vhils (filmed) has prepped a special installation at the Terrace of Pier 4 in Central. The neon works were modeled after the ubiquitous lighted signage the Portuguese saw during his residency in Hong Kong, as well as images that he created from scratch. Elms Lesters Painting Rooms in London are currently showing a small selection of new dimensional surface paintings on canvas by Adam Neate (interviewed). Heroes is an informal selection of new works created with a new approach that artist is currently developing. Street: Herakut (Los Angeles)

Leading up to the opening of their solo show this weekend at Corey Helford Gallery, Herakut painted a new mural featuring their signature mix of photorealistic and abstract elements. The new piece on the side of the gallery was painted next something Ron English put up and you can definitely see that what they chose to paint was partially in reaction to that. POW! WOW! / SXSW ’16: Recap

Earlier this month, the POW! WOW! crew spent a second year (see 2015) at SXSW painting murals for festival goers to enjoy.
