Releases: Jeff Koons x Dom Pérignon Sculpture Package

You may remember our recent article detailing Jeff Koons’ latest exhibition at the Gagosian in New York and despaired at the the thought of ever owning something from him. Now, love him or hate him, fans of the contemporary art giant’s sculptural works have a (relatively speaking) more affordable chance to own an editioned version of his Balloon Venus, in the form of a packaged collaboration with Dom Pérignon (also see their previous work with Warhol and David Lynch). Although unclear if this will be readily available, the […]

Releases: Futura x Beats by Dre Solo HD Headphones

Over the past few decades, graffiti and fine artist Futura has long been successful at fusing his art form with influential brands by carefully selecting partners and products that form a meaningful synergy. His most recent collaboration is with iconic headphone makers Beats by Dre. AM attended the packed launch event at the Beats’ flagship store in SOHO to catch the premiere of their next artists series featuring the New York legend. Utilizing a blue and white base, Futura lines the Solo HD model with a […]

Studio Visits / Previews: Jon Bocksel – “SEA OF BLASPHEMY” @ Curio

Over a half decade ago, I was introduced to this art school kid they called Bocksel. At the time, he was running around creating innovative art films, making cleaver t-shirts (with underlining political undertones), crafting skateboards into obscure shapes, and wheat pasting on his Friday nights while his peers were playing beer pong. Recently, I stopped by to visit Jon Bocksel’s studio to say hello as he prepared for his upcoming group shown, SEA OF BLASPHEMY at Curio. These days, Jon Boxel is still hard at […]

VickiPages – “Rednecked Falcon on Woodland” @ JuiceTank

The next artist on tap to work on the walls of the start-up incubator JuiceTank is VickiPages. Vic’s a unique artist that doesn’t shy away from his illustrative chops. One of his artistic projects he’s been focused on the past few years is The Camo Project, is a selection of illustrations that place specific animals along side camouflage patterns he’s designed and created. For this mural, he was challenged with a massive 17 x 8 foot wall and he answered with a new installment of the aforementioned series. […]

Design: James Jean – Wedding Invitation

Having a good friend like James Jean (featured) certainly came in handy for one lucky couple as the LA-based artist was asked to design special wedding invitations for them. It looks to be fabricated in a similar fashion to the stunning wood piece he created for our City Of Fire show based on the union of two animals from the Chinese Zodiac – the ox and snake. Discuss James Jean here.

James Jean for Black Dog / RSA

Los Angeles-based painter James Jean (featured), who recently took part in shows in both Beverly Hills, London, New York, and Orange County, found time in his busy schedule to collaborate with Black Dog & RSA Films. Featured here are two of the final versions along with the exquisite concept sketch, but also check out one of the initial designs that did not make the cut on his blog here. Discuss James Jean here.

Previews: Futura x Hennessy – VS Cognac Bottle

As promised, here’s a detailed look at Futura’s collaboration with world leading French cognac makers Hennessy. AM was invited to a tasting event for the upcoming holiday line in addition to a hands on preview of the stunning VS bottle designed by the NYC graffiti legend. The latest look continues where last year’s bottle designed by KAWS left off. Utilizing his signature atoms and abstractions, Futura remakes the iconic Hennessy VS cognac bottle into a modern reflection of this classic beverage. From the label to the seal […]

Releases: “Cast Light” by Daniel Arsham & Alex Mustonen

On the heels of Daniel Arsham’s exhibition the fall, the ball, and the wall that opened last month at OHWOW, we thought it worthwhile to bring your attention to an intriguing art project he produced not long ago in collaboration with Alex Mustonen. Previously collaborating together on the experimental installation and performance art exhibition DIG, the three-dimensionally inclined artists partner again here on Cast Light, a series of “lights” consisting of a single long-life LED bulb cast within a solid cubic volume of white gypsum cement […]

As promised, here are photos from the Ferrari x Marco Brambilla’s party that we attended earlier this week at Art Basel Week Miami. The centerpiece was the collaborative 3-D video installation from Brambilla entitled RPM (see the video here) that entertained guests from the worlds of art, fashion, design and music. The event was also the debut of the new 2012 model of the 458 Italia Spider. With music by Janelle Monae and Solange Knowles, the crowd rocked the night away at the unique architectural space at the […]
