Streets: Banksy (London)

Although it was surprising Los Angeles did not get gifted any new Banksy pieces in the weeks leading up to the opening of the MOCA Art in the Streets exhibition, it looks like the anonymous street artist has produced a new piece in his native land. This stencil, which has not been confirmed on Mr. B’s website yet, appeared in central London over the Easter holiday and is in the same area where his famous One Nation Under CCTV used to be. More pics after […]

Streets: Will Ryman – “Roses” @ Park Avenue

As AM ran through the streets of New York’s Midtown district we had the pleasure of catching Will Ryman’s latest outdoor installation – The Roses. Made possible with support from Paul Kasmin Gallery, Will created beautiful giant sized floral sculptures that lined each street center from 57th to 67th streets along the prestigious Park Avenue in NYC. Standing up to 25 feet, the impressive installations captured the hearts and cameras of all who passed by. Ryman’s large-scale figurative sculptures was a perfect compliment the busy […]

Streets: Eine – LA Weekly Building

UK-based street artist Ben Eine, who recently showed in SF (covered), made the trip down to Southern California soon after as we saw him at both the D*Face opening and of course participating at the Art in the Streets exhibition (covered) at the MOCA. Just like in San Francisco, he found time to work on some street typographical magic, this time on the LA Weekly building. More images of the crossword themed piece after the jump…

Streets: Blu & Ericailcane (Palestra)

Although we didn’t see any of his work in the Art in the Streets exhibition at the MOCA last week (probably related to the controversial buffing of his mural), most people still consider Blu one of the most important street artists at the moment. In fact, both him and fellow Italian artist Ericailcane (who recently collaborated on a mural in Bologna) are some of our favorites out there and they reaffirm our love for their work with this recent mural they are working on in […]

Streets: LUDO (Zurich)

As mentioned in our coverage of his debut gallery exhibition in Zurich, LUDO (interviewed) spent a good amount of time out on the streets in advance of the opening pasting up a whole host of smart, sizable pieces. Interestingly, due to the diligently cleaned Swiss streets and serious lack of street art, not only was the Paris-based artist advised to not attend, the gallery went so far as to preempt any unnecessary hindrances to the opening and published an article in the local newspaper explicitly […]

Streets: ABOVE (Melbourne)

ABOVE (interviewed), who we last caught up with during his well received show in the Bay Area (covered), continued his prolific traveling with a recent trip to Melbourne.  Of course, he took time to introduce some of his signature wordplay and arrows down under as well. Take a look at more pics he sent us after the jump…

Streets: Urs Fischer Bear Sculpture (New York)

A 23 foot tall, 20 ton bronze teddy bear from Urs Fischer was recently installed in New York at the Park Avenue plaza. The signature sculptural piece entitled Untitled (Lamp/Bear) from the young Swiss artist will be in place for public consumption until it goes on the block next month at Christie’s where it’s expected to fetch over $10 million dollars. To install the work, the auction house had to get six city permits and pay to reinforce the floor so that it could take […]

Streets: Invader (Los Angeles)

As you know, there is a little show called Art in the Streets set to open to the public this weekend in Los Angeles. Besides work inside the MOCA and the surrounding walls, some artists like Invader here could not resist hitting up other parts of the city with their work.  Take a look at more detailed pics of this tiled piece in Culver City as well as another piece in Echo Park after the jump…

Preview / Streets: “Art in the Streets” @ MOCA

The clock is ticking as the artists are putting the finishing touches on the Art in the Streets exhibition at the MOCA Los Angeles. Set to open to the public this Sunday, the show was in the final stages of preparation as AM stopped by today to check on the progress both indoors and out. After a quick lap indoors, we feel confident enough to tell you that this looks to be one the best show that we’ve ever seen. Bad news is that we […]

Streets: D*Face (Los Angeles) – Part II

Reminiscent of the Zombie Oscar Statues he installed in Runyon Canyon and in the parking lot of the famous Mel’s Drive-In in Hollywood in 2010, D*Face (featured) placed a custom tombstone early this morning at the Charlie Sheen star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Make sure you stop by on Saturday night at the Corey Helford Gallery to check out his new body of work entitled Going Nowhere Fast (for a preview, see our studio visit) and also to enjoy the mural he painted […]
