Streets: D*Face (London)

Hopefully those in London had a chance to check out the great showing from D*Face (interviewed) at Stolenspace before it closed last weekend. Around the same time, the local street artist found time to get up near the gallery (Commercial Street, across the way from Spitalfields Market) with some of his recent pop imagery. Working through the rain, the water turned out to be a good opportunity to get some photos… Photos via the artist. Discuss D*Face here.

Streets: Hendrik ‘ECB’ Beikirch (Croatia)

German artist and muralist Hendrik ‘ECB’ Beikirch was recently in Split, Croatia, where he took part in a local XStatic festival by painting a new mural on Gripe sports center. Known for the large scale portraits he has painted worldwide (the biggest one being in Busan, South Korea), ECB created another recognizable piece in the center of the city. Since the wall he was painting on is near a place where local senior citizens meet up for card games (“briškula”) and where cold refreshments are served during hot summer […]

Streets: Raymond Pettibon – “No Title (Safe he called…)” (New York)

Joining an illustrious list of artists (see some of the others here) commissioned by The High Line to design a billboard, Raymond Pettibon chose to use his 2010 drawing No Title (Safe he called…). The scene at home plate features the American artist’s characteristic imagery and text which references characters known well to those in New York like The Notorious B.I.G, Jackie Robinson, and Robert Moses. Stop by next time you are taking a stroll on the famed pedestrian walkway (through July 1) and plan to be back when his […]

Streets: El Mac (Denmark) – Part II

We already shared some photos with you of a large mural El Mac worked in while in town for his show at Galerie Wolfsen (covered), It turns out that was only the tip of the iceberg as the LA-based street artist also worked on a triptych piece for his fans in Denmark entitled Purity of Heart, taken from the popular book by Søren Kierkegaard – Purity of Heart is to Will One Thing. These three murals grace three sides of a tower in front of a recently renovated orphanage and […]

Streets: Dabs Myla 2013 Euro Summer Tour

Australian artistic couple, Dabs Myla, recently left their LA home/studio to spend couple of weeks traveling and painting around Europe. They visited The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, and collaborated with numerous Europe based graffiti artists such as Newtwo, Vino, Aryz, Boogie, Tiws, Soten, Bates, etc, along the way. Streets: Liqen – “Mandarina Chicharra” (London)

While in UK earlier this month, the Spanish-born Liqen painted a vibrant mural, Mandarina Chicharra, in South London in the Dulwich area. Covering the wall in the courtyard of a local school with his surreal imagery, the children will either be inspired by this hybrid orange and insect creature, or have bad dreams. Take a a look from some other angles and enjoy the details below… Discuss Liqen here.

Streets: Sam3 (Spain)

Sam3 has been busy recently along the Mediterranean coastline of Spain in Costa Blanca working on some murals featuring his signature shadow figures. Along with the stunning piece with political commentary that refers to expulsion of the Moors in the Ricote Valley in the sixteenth century, painted on a rock face (seen above), there was also the silhouette of a man in a boat with pretty sweet placement taking advantage of the natural elements of the wall (seen below). Discuss Sam3 here.

Streets: DALeast (Vienna)

The prolific artist DALeast has struck again, this time in Vienna. The South Africa-based Chinese artist painted a mural that draws from his roots as the title of this latest piece is “-“, the a character that means “one” in Chinese. Painted over some scattered graffiti, the work featuring his animal characters rendered with his kinetic brushstrokes blends in nicely with the wall. Take a look at more photos below… Discuss DAL here.

Streets: Nychos (Denmark)

Earlier this month (June 1-8), the Viborg International Billboard Painting Festival kicked things off with new work from Nychos. Streets: Hyuro (Copenhagen)

While in town for her show in Copenhagen (covered), Hyuro also spent time working on a massive new mural over 270 meters long. Spending about two weeks painting her progressive imagery featuring an elk making a transformation as it trots through a forest, the long piece is a gift to her fans in the Danish capital. Take a more detailed and extensive look in the photo set below… Photo credit: Henrik Haven. Discuss Hyuro here.
