Streets: Roa & Ever (Buenos Aires)

The anatomical dissections of local animals and Chinese propaganda, two types of imagery that you wouldn’t think would work as a collaboration. However, that is exactly what happened when ROA and Ever joined forces in Argentina for a joint mural entitled The people feed communism to the beast. This piece, painted over the Christmas holiday, was placed on a squatted building in Palermo Viejo in Buenos Aires and features Mao head offered up to an elephant seal. Photo credit: Graffitimundo. Streets: Escif – “The Flowers Of Evil” Series

Prolific artist Escif recently started a series of murals entitled Les Fleurs Du Mal, or The Flowers of Evil painted in different cities in Europe like Besançon (France), Zagreb (Croatia), Navarra & Albacete (Spain), Niort (France), and his home city of Valencia (Spain). The different species of flowers (like hemlock, nightshade, wolfsbane, and more), all beautiful in their own right, all have deadly effects when combined with human biology. Streets: Elbow-Toe – “Tastes Like Chicken” (New York)

It’s been a while since we caught up with Brian Adam Douglas, a.k.a. Elbow-Toe (interviewed) – the last time probably being in 2011 when we watcheuphill work on the streets as well as open a solo at Black Rat Projects (covered). The Brooklyn-based artist recently surfaced to paste up this new piece entitled Tastes Like Chicken in his borough. Streets: James “DALEK” Marshall (Corona Del Mar)

Continuing to produce public displays of his geometric mastery, James Marshall aka Dalek (interviewed) recently painted another mural at the Hobie Surf Shop in Corona Del Mar. Orange County is kind of ground zero for fans of the American artist’s work because of his affiliation with Hurley – leading to many shows, product lines, and associated events in and around Hurley Space. Streets: Phlegm (London)

It seems the Sheffiled-based Phlegm has headed south again to London for another mural. This newest piece is on the Village Underground wall on Holywell Lane and features some of the long legged creatures he has been painting as of late (see here), as well as one of his classic characters catching a ride. Streets: Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada – “Terrestrial Series / Mama Cash” (Amsterdam)

Jorge Rodríguez-Gerada was recently invited to Amsterdam to work on a piece for the International Human Rights Day that helped to launch Vogelvrije Vrouwen (Defend women who defend human rights!). This campaign raises awareness to the plight of Mesoamerican women who are illegally targeted and terrorized for defending human rights in that region and was commissioned by feminist foundation Mama Cash. The large-scale land portrait that spanned almost two football fields (created with the help of 80 volunteers) is part of the Cuban American artist’s ongoing Terrestrial Series. He states […]

We start this month’s survey of street art with this sweet new piece from El Mac painted on what looks to be the side of a train car. The LA-based artist painted the portrait as a tribute to his friend and gifted photographer Estevan Oriol. Streets: Slinkachu (Russia)

It appears cold weather hasn’t deterred the skills and intentions of street miniaturist Slinkachu. The London-based artist continues to hit up major metropolitan areas around the world (the theme of his last solo show) – this time in Gorky Park (Moscow, Russia). Looks like his tiny people sculptures should watch out for giants aka humans. Discuss Slinkachu here.

Streets: MOMO x Eltono – “Impropbables” (France)

After recently working on a mural in Miami (covered), MOMO headed to Besancon, France where he collaborated with Eltono on a series of public installations they entitled Impropbables. Sharing a penchant for geometric shapes and color theory, the two artists created a series of street interventions in 52 different locations with found materials, a hand saw, and a rubber mallet. This week’s Streets World Roundup, the last of 2012, is headlined by a new piece from Martin Ron (in collaboration with Frederico Ron) entitled Lujuan Pedro and His Dog (source).
