If you haven’t had a chance to visit the 55th Venice Biennale, you have till November 24th to experience the cacophony of visual styles. The words “art fatigue” do not begin to describe how you’ll feel at the end of a week spent hopping on and off vaporetti and crossing […]

David Choe Visits Afghanistan For Juxtapoz

David Choe (featured) recently travelled to Afghanistan with some of his friends, including Estevan Oriol who handled the photography for the trip. His adventures were documented in his own words in the latest issue of Juxtapoz and was an interesting read, to say the least, so pick up a copy if you can. The magazine also published some of the photos online (some also seen below), including ones that didn’t make the article. For those looking for more from the Choefather, he will be opening his first […]

And, if you are interested in checking out the work in person, VICE will be putting on the collaborations show at the Superchief Gallery in New […]

Album Covers: Tim Barber x Elton John – “The Diving Board”

Continuing a long line of artists seen here on AM who have collaborated on album covers, a Tim Barber image graces the cover of Elton John’s soon-to-be released The Diving Board. The former photo editor of famed Vice Magazine’s iconic shot of a man standing on edge, over looking an ocean, looks to be somewhat modified to fit the format – if you remember, this piece was seen at his solo show in Los Angeles in 2010 (covered). If you are looking for more from Barber, check […]

Streets: Liu Bolin (New York)

It looks like Chinese artist Liu Bolin was back in New York again recently since the last time he was in the Big Apple when we hung out with him and JR as they worked on an interesting collaborative project together. While in town for his current exhibition at Eli Klein Fine Art, site of his show in 2012 (covered), the photographer and painter decided to stop by 5Pointz Aerosol Arts Center, in an area of Queens which has heavy graffiti presence. The walls there will soon be replaced […]

Art Focus: Sonia Rentsch

Sonia Rentsch is an artist and designer based in Melbourne who worked recently on a project that caught our eye. Harm Less is a series of photos she arranged for the January Biannual that featured plant life arranged to resemble various weapons. The dried plant life stills were meant to “ponder the themes of Life, Death, Ritual and Evolution.” Check out more images below… Via Highsnobiety.

Upcoming: Daido Moriyama @ PRISM

Renowned Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama, whose work we last saw at a Tate Modern retrospective in 2012 (covered), will be showing in Los Angeles next month. The opening reception for the exhibition, which brings together a selection of pieces that span his career, is scheduled for July 12th […]

Showing: Letha Wilson – Landmarks and Monuments @ Art in General

NYC nonprofit art space Art in General currently has an excellent exhibition by Letha Wilson, entitled Landmarks and Monuments. The show consists mostly of Wilson’s photo-based sculptures—many of which were created and installed specifically for the site. In the center of the gallery, a floor-to-ceiling photograph of a moonrise curves around one of the space’s support columns. On one side of the room, an image of a tree is pressed into the drywall with a two-by-four. And across, a Southwestern landscape is installed over a window, […]
