“Small Victories” Photo Project

Booooooom! is running a contest where readers can submit 4″ x 6″ photos about “the quietly beautiful, unintentionally funny, people and things all around us.” This will culminate in a show in May in Hong Kong with our friends at the Above Second Gallery. Full details on submissions here.

To accompany Ryan McGinley’s insanely popular exhibition (the opening had to be shut down by the fire marshal due to the volume of the crowd) Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, Dashwood Books has released a limited edition, hardcover book featuring images from the acclaimed photographer’s current show at Team Gallery. Mörel Books, publisher of the highly acclaimed and gorgeous Moonmilk book by Ryan McGinley, is coming out with a book by fellow photographer, artist, and skateboard legend Ed Templeton. Templeton, a Huntington Beach, CA native and resident, works in multiple mediums while exploring his surroundings, personal relationships, and the outskirts of suburban life. Thursday night, Ryan McGinley opened his latest body or work “Everybody Knows This is Nowhere” at SOHO’s Team Gallery. West Hollywood’s fledgling, ambitious, and architecturally magnificent Prism gallery opened its second exhibition this past weekend. Delivering on their promise to show internationally recognized artists, Prism hosted the controversial and legendary Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, with a selection of about 70 of his works. The Tokyo-based artist is one of Japan’s most accomplished, notable, and respected photographers. His photos explore topics including love and sex and features his wife, Yoko, in much of his work. This past March 4th will end up being a significant date in the history of Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills. The standard-bearer of all contemporary art galleries in the world premiered a major addition to their 90210 space. In addition, Andreas Gursky, one of the most well-known artists working in the photography medium, opened his newest major solo exhibition at the gallery.
