Damien Hirst x Rihanna for GQ

For their 25th anniversary issue, British GQ enlisted the help of Damien Hirst to design the cover along with Rihanna. Styled with snakes entwined on the R&B singer’s body and on her head as well as slit eye contacts, the spread certainly has references to the mythical Medusa. Two of street art’s finest have come together for a special collaboration for the cover of New York’s The Village Voice. We’ve amassed quite the collection of books by London based graffiti dude / artist / muralist Remi Rough over time, and it looks like our shelves will be getting another addition pretty soon. #roughsketches is a 124 page book of blackbook drawings and sketches from 1996 to 2013, and it will be available in a limited edition of 100 numbered and signed copies, direct from Remi’s online store on Friday 11th October. Last week, the MOCA in Los Angeles held a release party for OUTSIDE THE LINES: An Artists’ Coloring Book for Giant Imaginations, a publication curated by Souris Hong-Porretta (seen directly below). Many of the animators, cartoonists, fine artists, graphic artists, illustrators, musicians, outsider artists, photographers, street artists, and video game artists made it out to the event to interact with fans and sign copies. If you remember, we covered his trip to Northern Ireland extensively as the UK-based artist painted beautiful murals in his home country. Our friends at Very Nearly Almost (VNA) recently held a release party to celebrate the launch of their latest issue where Brooklyn collective Faile (featured) created a limited edition print by silkscreening their artwork on the cover. After finishing a unique and daring project as inspiration for the paintings in his solo in Los Angeles several months ago (covered), Scott Campbell has worked on something closer to home. On the cover of the latest issue of New York Magazine is his wife Lake Bell covered in his art and profiled in an article along with the tattoo artist.
