Upcoming: Gary Baseman – “Play With Us Or Else” @ Vinyl on Vinyl

Tonight (March 7th) in the Philippines, Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) will be opening a show at Vinyl on Vinyl entitled Play With Us Or Else. Along with paintings, art toys, and costumed fun, the Los Angeles-based artist will also be signing the catalogue from his first museum retrospective, The Door Is Always Open, held at the Skirball Cultural Center last year. Upcoming: D*Face Show & Book Release @ Stephen Webster (Beverly Hills)

On February 5th (5-8pm), Stephen Webster’s Beverly Hills flagship boutique and gallery will be hosting a new show from D*Face (interviewed) as well as a book signing. For the US launch of The Art of D*Face: One Man and His Dog, the UK-based street artist will be releasing the standard edition of the monograph as well as a limited edition box set (edition of 50) which will include a six color screen print. Publications: David Choe for VICE

The newest VICE magazine features the artwork of David Choe (featured) gracing its cover on what they refer to as their The Horse Is a Horse of Course of Course issue. If you remember, VICE was for whom Choe’s Thumbs Up! series was filmed for where the street and graffiti artist was seen hitchiking his way across North America and China. Discuss David Choe here.

Streets: D*Face (Tokyo)

The UK-based D*Face (interviewed) is currently in Japan to promote his new book – The Art of D*Face: One Man and His Dog. To that end, he will be holding a signing event (tonight) and show at Parco Gallery X in Tokyo where he will also be releasing a Japanese flag version print (seen below).  Of course, while in town, he also took time to work on a mural (located in Shibuya). Publications: KAWS for i-D Magazine

KAWS (aka Brian Donnelly) was recently featured along with James Jebbia (founder of Supreme) in i-D Magazine in their Collector’s Issue. Entitled “boys and their toys: a tale of two titans,” the article on these two men whose brands have the fervent following of a multitude of fans, also includes a photoshoot with Candice Swanepoel, the South African model best known for her work with Victoria’s Secret. Upcoming: Todd “REAS” James – “Swords & Sorcery” @ The Newsstand

Tomorrow (November 23, 3-9pm) in New York, Todd James will be releasing a zine at The Newsstand in Brooklyn (inside the Metropolitan Ave.-Lorimer St. stop on the G and L trains). Those attending the event will see a Sword & Sorcery themed installation based on the dungeons and dragons type pieces he has been posting onto his Instagram (some more of which are seen below) recently. Showing / Releases: HuskMitNavn – “Offline” @ Schaefer Grafisk

Danish artist, graffiti writer and illustrator, HuskMitNavn (RememberMyName in Danish), recently released a book of drawings – Offline. The title of the book is the artist’s response to the trend of our life moving into the online realm, with help of virtual communication and social networks. A book release was held on the 15th November at Schaefer Grafisk in Copenhagen where 92 original drawings featured in a book were exhibited and available.
