Almost three months after participating in one of Castor Gallery’s group show and releasing a limited edition print with them, Ludovic Vernhet aka Ludo (interviewed) is back in NYC for his solo with the gallery. Openings: Dabs Myla – “Before and Further” Popup (Los Angeles)

A couple weeks ago, Dabs Myla opened up an ambitious new exhibition at the Modernica factory property in Los Angeles entitled Before and Further. The title is appropriate as the artistic duo took things to the next level with an immersive installation featuring paintings, sculptures, ceramics, lighting, customized furniture, as well as murals covering the entire facade of the building. Releases: Joe Ledbetter – “Totem” Multi-Dimensional Print

Earlier today, Joe Ledbetter released a new multi-dimensional print through Prints On Wood entitled Totem. Standing over two feet tall, the edition consists of two double sided prints on wood that intersect, forming a stack of the Los Angeles-based artist’s iconic characters. Showing through the end of the month at Howard Griffin Gallery is a new solo from Giacomo Bufarini a.k.a. RUN, a followup to his show with the gallery last year (covered). The Italian artist has made his name painting his iconic characters around the world with their recognizable large heads. Releases: Mars-1 – “Mars Molecule Collection”

Coinciding with his current exhibition at Heron Arts in San Francisco, Mars-1 (featured) has released a set of bronze sculptures titled Mars Molecule Collection that mirror the large scale pieces in the show. The sculpts are three dimensional representations of the SF-based artist organic otherworldly paintings and were first revealed in this year’s Burning Man. The set costs $2000 and come in an edition of 24 and are available here. Discuss Mars-1 here.

Currently at the Louisiana Museum of Art in Denmark, the first ever retrospective in Scandinavia from Yayoi Kusuma is on display through January 24th next year. In Infinity features works spanning more than six decades, from visual art to performance, film, literature and design, presented in chronological order including a new series of paintings created specifically by the Japanese artist for this exhibition. Opening on October 10th at the Japanese American National Museum is Giant Robot Biennale 4, a group exhibition featuring works from artists curated by Eric Nakamura (interviewed), the man behind the Giant Robot brand. The fourth iteration (see 2009, 2012) of the show looks to be the most ambitious yet featuring artists like James Jean, Jim Lee, Kim Jung Gi, Katsuya Terada, Edwin Ushiro, and Yumi Sakagawa, among others. Currently, Heath Ceramics in San Francisco has an amazing new set of works on display from Brendan Monroe (interviewed) at their Boiler Room space. French artists and studio mates, Ludo and Rero, were recently visiting Colombia during the ArtBo Artfair week in Bogota. They were invited to create a collaborative installation at a 500 year old historical site where they incorporated their work into a colonial patio. Galleria Patricia Armocida is currently showing the Italian debut show of young Brazilian artist Raphael Sagarra aka Finok. Sorrir e Chorar looks like his most accomplished exhibition to date, including various styles of works that show his seemingly endless creativity and diversity. Through his previous shows, the São Paulo-based artist was working with different mediums to blend his imagery with different familiar and mostly traditional objects.
