Showing: Yayoi Kusama
 – “In Infinity” @ Louisiana Museum of Modern Art (Denmark)

Currently at the Louisiana Museum of Art in Denmark, the first ever retrospective in Scandinavia from Yayoi Kusuma is on display through January 24th next year. In Infinity features works spanning more than six decades, from visual art to performance, film, literature and design, presented in chronological order including a new series of paintings created specifically by the Japanese artist for this exhibition. Showing: “El Mac: Aerosol Exalted” @ Colorado Springs Fine Art Center

Currently at the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center, El Mac: Aerosol Exalted is showing through January 10th. The new pieces in the exhibition highlights El Mac’s signature technique with the fat cap, double line ripples that radiate out from his imagery creating an almost calligraphic effect. Included are some older pieces he finished up that were collaborations with fellow Los Angeles-base artist RETNA. Lucky Colorado residents also have the opportunity to purchase a special print between now and the national release ons October 14th. Discuss El Mac here.

Previews: Yoskay Yamamoto / Giant Robot Biennale 4 @ JANM

Opening on October 10th at the Japanese American National Museum is Giant Robot Biennale 4, a group exhibition featuring works from artists curated by Eric Nakamura (interviewed), the man behind the Giant Robot brand. The fourth iteration (see 2009, 2012) of the show looks to be the most ambitious yet featuring artists like James Jean, Jim Lee, Kim Jung Gi, Katsuya Terada, Edwin Ushiro, and Yumi Sakagawa, among others. Baby Tattooville ’15: “Fade To Black” @ Riverside Art Museum

Tonight at the Riverside Art Museum, Fade To Black opened its door to the public after a private dinner reception on the roof of the museum. The group exhibition associated with this year’s Baby Tattooville featured work from artists who are participating in the weekend art retreat including Anthony Ausgang, Sas Christian, Olivia De Berardinis, Ron English, Camille Rose Garcia, Bosko Hrnjak, Marion Peck, KRK Ryden, Mark Ryden, and Isabel Samaras. Upcoming: EVOL – “Mind the Gap” @ Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale

For the upcoming Krasnoyarsk Museum Biennale in Russia, the Berlin-based EVOL has prepared a special installation featuring his signature reproduction of urban structures. The twist on this piece though, entitled Mind the Gap, is the red-tinged separation that runs right down the center of the buildings. Finally released from a house arrest by the government after 600 days on 22th of July, Ai Weiwei has been very active in the recent months. With this being the last week of the Invisible College group exhibition at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, now would be a good time for a recap. On September 9th, Constructive Interference: Tauba Auerbach and Mark Fox will be opening at the Wisch Family Gallery at Stanford University. On loan from the Anderson family, the works from the mid-career contemporary artists who both graduated from the university will “explore ideas of process, material manipulation and chance” and encompass prints, paintings (one of Auerbach’s iconic fold paintings seen above), and sculpture.
