The Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga is hosting the first solo exhibition in a Spanish museum of Los Angeles-based artist Shepard Fairey (featured). Curated by Fernando Francés, the retrospective spans over 25 years, and features paintings, silkscreens, stencils, stickers, illustrations, collage, photographs, sculptures and works in wood and metal. With over 300 pieces, this is the largest body of work from Shep to ever be exhibited. This weekend, a show co-curated by Andrew and Shawn Hosner of Los Angeles’ Thinkspace Gallery and Josef Zimmerman of the Fort Wayne Museum of Art will open at the museum. Entitled Invisible College, the group exhibition refers to the fact that many of the participants have found success outside of the traditional art educational model. Previews / Setup: Faile – “Savage/Sacred Young Minds” @ Brooklyn Museum

With the opening fast approaching at the end of next week, Faile (featured) has ramped up their setup for their solo at the Brooklyn Museum. Entitled Savage/Sacred Young Minds, the exhibition from the locally-based artistic duo will features a diverse selection of works from their oeuvre including multimedia installations, large-scale paintings, and sculptures as well as a revival of the Deluxx Fluxx Arcade with their long time collaborator Bast. After leaving a memorable mark in Malaga, Spain in 2013, Shepard Fairey (featured) will be returning to the CAC Malaga for an exhibition opening on June 26th. Your Eyes Here from Shep will be shown alongside a solo with D*Face who painted the two towers with him back when they were in town last. After sharing some initial photos of artists painting murals for the Vitality and Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape exhibition opening June 26th at the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA), we now have some more shots for you from over the weekend. On May 30th, Museu do Côa in Vila Nova de Foz Côa, Portugal, opened 1/81, a group show presenting the newest works of some of Portugal’s contemporary and urban artists. Yesterday, AM had the opportunity to stop by the Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) for what’s shaping up to be an epic exhibition. Put on in collaboration by Thinkspace Gallery, the people behind POW! WOW!, and LBMA, the main attraction of Vitality and Verve: Transforming the Urban Landscape are the on site installations and murals.
