Last Saturday, Shooting Gallery opened the doors to Parisian street stencil artist, C215’s latest solo show, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes (previewed). The show is inspired by cigarette iconography and advertisements that lie and typically depict affluent people enjoying a smoke in order to sell their products to the common folk and working class. A few days ago, artist David Flores and photographer Phil Stern unveiled their joint exhibition at the Phil Stern Gallery showcasing an incredible collection of timeless images blending Stern’s photography and Flores’ unique design. The pictures included iconic personalities ranging from Marilyn Monroe, John F. Openings: “Attack of the Space Waffles” @ Outsiders

Space Invader is back to London for a solo show at the Outsiders and what a better way to celebrate December with an Attack of Space Waffles? Showcasing a series of brand new mosaic alias’ and some other goodies like stickers and limited editions. The basement features an ‘Invaded Disco Ball’, and a 20 minute documentary following Invader throughout his street missions, and also a ‘Space Waffle Machine‘ dispensing hot waffles throughout the exhibition to the delight of the gallery’s Christmas visitors. ‘Tis the season to be invaded… More pics after the jump…

Openings: KAWS – “FOCUS:KAWS” @ Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

On Friday night, AM attended Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth where KAWS unveiled his latest show in the Lone Star state. The exhibition entitled Focus:KAWS is a mix of color and monotone works from the Brooklyn based artist including a previous series of tondos which made its way from this year’s Armory. Openings: “Brothers of the Weird” @ Cooper Cole Gallery

A couple weeks ago in Toronto, the newly renamed Cooper Cole Gallery hosted the opening for Brothers of the Weird. Anchored by the ever entertaining Todd “REAS” James, the group show also featured the colorful works of associates and friends Joe Grillo (Dearraindrop), Billy Grant, Devin Flynn and Ian Flynn. Openings: Hush @ Onethirty3

Last week, the Onethirty3 installation space in Newcastle hosted its newest featured guest – Hush (interviewed). The UK-based artist presented his signature blend of anime influenced imagery with the raw energy of urban forms while creating an immersive transformation in the gallery confines. Last weekend, Scott G. Brooks and Fred Harper opened up a joint show at the Last Rites Gallery in New York. Brooks let his imagination run wild with a series of dark and inventive works entitled collectively The Luckiest Widow In The World & Other Tales Of Misfortune. Openings: Ray Caesar – “it started with eve…” @ Stephen Webster

Over the weekend, Stephen Webster (located in Beverly Hills) opened up their 2nd floor gallery space with an exhibition curated by the Corey Helford Gallery. Featuring the work of Ray Caesar (interviewed), the evening centered around the murder mystery theme during the special event.
