Releases: Audrey Kawasaki – “Dreaming of Koholint Island” Print

On March 26, Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Dreaming of Koholint Island. The image is taken from the painting the locally-based artist contributed to the current 30th anniversary Legend of Zelda group show (covered) in Los Angeles. Starting at 12 noon PST, 250 of these prints will go on sale for $140 unframed and $290 framed, but head over here for more details if you are interested in adding one to your collection. The newly formed Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art in Brussels will be opening their doors on March 24th (opening postponed to 13th of April at 11 am due to the terrible recent events in Brussels), with an inaugural show entitled City Lights. Releases: James Jean – “Kali” Print

On March 23rd, James Jean (interviewed) will be releasing a new time-limited print (starting 8:00 AM PDT and available for 12 hours only) through his webstore entitled Kali. The image is taken from one of his paintings for his show in Tokyo last year (covered) and features the Japan-based artist’s surreal take on the Hindu goddess of empowerment. Earlier this year, Tracey Emin collaborated with her long time friend and jewellery designer Stephen Webster on a new line of wearable art. The 50-piece collection entitled I Promise To Love You is inspired by the British artist’s signature neon art and her sketches of woodland animals of which she states – “I chose the woodland creatures as I wanted to work with the idea of English animals. Showing: Eric Yahnker – “Noah’s Yacht” @ Zevitas Marcus

Last weekend, Zevitas Marcus in Los Angeles hosted the opening of a new solo show from Eric Yahnker. Noah’s Yacht features works created from colored pencils and graphite on paper, rendered with the locally-based artist’s continued clever commentary on issues that afflict our society today touching on topics like the current election cycle and police violence. Rounding out the show are various sculptural works, installations, and conceptual pieces all showing his versatility and knowledge of pop culture and the social-political climate, often times intermixing the two. Releases: KAWS – “Man’s Best Friend” Print Set

Pace Prints just announced their newest print release with KAWS. Man’s Best Friend is a monumental set of 10 black and white screenprints, similar to the installation shown at his 2014 show at Honor Fraser Gallery (covered). Based on Charles M. Schulz’s Peanuts, the prints are KAWS’ take on the popular cartoon. By combining macro views of lines that comprise of the forms of Snoopy, Woodstock and friends, along with his signature XX, the Brooklyn-based artist created appealing abstract images.
