Showing: KAWS – “Clean Slate” @ LA NAVE (Ibiza)

Currently in Ibiza, some works from KAWS are on display at LA NAVE, a new 8,000 sq. ft. exhibition space on the island launched by New York-based gallerist and art collector Lio Malca. Anchored by the seven-metre-tall Clean Slate companion sculpture, the exhibition also includes some originals and prints on display in the transformed old salt warehouse overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. With the opening reception set for this Thursday night (September 10th), SLIP at Winston Wachter Fine Art will introduce new works from Zaria Forman to her fans in New York. After a successful showing at Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles last year (covered), Joram Roukes will be returning for another solo on October 10th. Entitled American Ornithology, the new body of work from the Dutch artist will no doubt highlight his surrealist artistic vision, oftentimes featuring striking scenes played out by his hybrid characters. After short speeches by festival organizers and benefactors, as well as the town’s mayor, the 2015 NuArt exhibition officially opened Saturday night at Tou Scene in Stavanger, Norway. NuArt ’15 / Streets: Ella & Pitr – “Lilith & Olaf”

One of the highlights of this year’s NuArt Festival is the completion of what is billed as the world’s largest outdoor mural in Klepp, just outside of Stavanger. Created by French artists Ella & Pitr along with a crew of some 30 volunteers, the 21,000 square meter mural was completed before the festival officially started. As part of the 2015 NuArt Festival, Canadian painter Sandra Chevrier (interviewed) created the inaugural mural for The Aftenblad Wall in Stavanger, Norway. Festival 2015. The wall is a partnership between NuArt and the Stavanger Aftenblad newspaper, and will provide selected Norwegian and international artists with a prominent public space on which to display their art. After seeing Pryce Lee unveil a diverse body of work in Italy earlier this year (covered), we look in anticipation at his upcoming exhibition Ceasefire at The Garage. Situated in a 17th century carriage house in the canals of Amsterdam, the gallery will kick off their their new season of shows, “The Salon Sessions,” with new pieces from the UK-based artist including his iconic mirror-based works.
