Prolific Russian artist Rustam QBic recently announced the release of his new limited edition print release, Mind Games, will be available on Thursday 14th May at 5PM GMT (12PM New York time) at Unframed store, perfectly timed for upcoming Father’s day in June. Audrey Kawasaki, Andrew Hem, Mari Inukai Murals @ Worcester Museum (Part I)

With the Samurai! show (co-curated by Eric Nakamura, editor and founder of Giant Robot Magazine) at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts now open to the public, the artists invited to paint murals for the exhibition were able to start their efforts last week. One of the artists invited, Andrew Hem, has created large scale public art in the past, but the other two, Audrey Kawasaki and Mari Inukai were not as experienced with mural painting. Releases: Camille Rose Garcia – “Mirror, Black Mirror” Book & Giveaway

Now and through midnight Sunday, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be randomly giving away five original drawings (seen above) with the purchase of her book Mirror, Black Mirror from her webstore. The 175 page monograph documents seven years of work made by the artist after moving to a cabin in the woods of Northern California and costs $70. On May 16th, the 529 West 20th Street location of Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be hosting a set of new works from Eloy Morales collectively entitled About Head. The Madrid-based artist’s raw hyper-realistic portraiture is a sight to behold, but even more so in person when the scale is fully appreciated. On May 21st, Hong Kong’s Time Square will be welcoming in another artist (see Mike Stilkey and Yoskay Yamamoto) to create an installation arranged by LeBasse Projects at the mall complex in Causeway Bay. In celebration of his character Toby’s 10th birthday, Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) faithful companion will be part of a new sculptural installation set up as a birthday party with his dear friends. KAWS Designs Trophy For SpongeBob SquarePants 400 Nascar Race

Continuing to raise his profile and to familiarize the general public with his signature imagery, KAWS has teamed up with NASCAR to design the trophy for the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 coming up at the Kansas Speedway on May 9th (although it might be delayed due to the weather). Tonight in Seattle (May 7th), Travis Louie (interviewed) will be revisiting Roq La Rue for another showing of his vintage photography inspired paintings of imaginary creatures, created in a style self-described as a kind of “cryptozoology.” Entitled Archive of Lost Species, the fresh new pieces are a collection of fantastical characters, unique in their size and circumstance, many posing next to their human counterparts.
