Releases: Camille Rose Garcia – “The Ghost of G Sharp 7” Print

Later today, January 23rd at 12 noon PST, Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) will be releasing a new print through her online store. Entitled The Ghost of G Sharp 7, the 24″ x 30″ giclee will be produced in a run of 100 with hand applied glitter. Auctions: NURTUREart – Inspired by Andy Warhol @ Paddle8

Openings: Mark Jenkins – “Moment of Impact” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Last week, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) premiered his debut solo show with Lazarides Rathbone entitled Moment of Impact. For his fans in London, the American artist has assembled a selection of provocative mixed media canvases and hyper-realist sculptures. Some pieces like his masked full-size figures are direct translations of his street interventions while others are produced for the gallery setting like the leg which seems to be bursting through a canvas or arms committing seppuku. Openings: “Incantation” @ Roq La Rue

From candlelit backrooms to small forest clearings, Incantation sees Roq la Rue Conjuring up a group show based on ritual and mysticism. Occultism is often seen as heretical to mainstream society, but the beliefs and practices are centuries old and firmly rooted in nature and our surroundings. Openings: Christian Rex van Minnen – “Golden Memes” @ Robischon Gallery

AM recently joined the masses at Robischon Gallery for the January 15th opening of Christian Rex van Minnen’s Golden Memes. The show is a homecoming for the New York-based artist, who brought his grotesque re-imagining of the Dutch Golden Age to Denver. The exhibition includes ten pieces of new work, most large in scale, making the bizarre imagery even more powerful. Publications: Liam Snootle – ‘Art and Stuff’ Book & Original Paintings

Melbourne based Liam Snootle has been impressing us with his origami inspired creations both on the street and on canvas. Snootle uses spray paint in a range of contrasting tonal increments to create a series of angular shapes. The paintwork is tight and the depth created is very effective. These works are as much about colour theory as they are form and context. In conjunction with the relaunch of his website, SABER (interviewed) has made a new series of paintings and serigraphs ($1200 & $250 respectively) available for purchase through his webstore. Showing: Jamie Sneider “Surface of Venus” @ Neochrome

Along with Nick Farhi’s solo (covered), Neochrome Gallery is currently showing another show, Surface of Venus by Jamie Sneider, her first in Europe. With a MFA in Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts in NY, BFA from New York University, and two well received solo exhibitions stateside, this over-the-pond show is a new landmark for the Boston-born artist.
