It looks like Conor Harrington (interviewed) will be working on a series of zines documenting his painting trips, with the first being Belfast 2012. If you remember, we covered his trip to Northern Ireland extensively as the UK-based artist painted beautiful murals in his home country. Previews: Isaac Cordal – “Cement Eclipses” @ Anno Domini

On this Friday (September 6th), Spanish artist Isaac Cordal will be bringing his Cement Eclipses stateside for a showing at Anno Domini in San Jose, California. His street interventions consisting of sculptures steeped with political and social implications have been hitting countries around the world for several years now. This Saturday (September 7th), the Merry Karnowsky Gallery in Los Angeles will be one of the places you must visit on your night of art. Not only will gifted painter Nicola Verlato be unveiling new works at the space, but Caleb Brown will also be presenting some intriguing paintings of his own. A Modern World will feature the New York-based artist’s crazy alternate realities, filled with things that appear where they shouldn’t be – like the surreal look at sharks and skydivers leaping out of planes amidst detonations. Preview: Dave Kinsey – “Black White” @ FFDG

If you were in San Francisco last year, you may remember the show (covered) Dave Kinsey put on at the Fecal Face Dot Gallery. Come Thursday, September 5th, FFDG will be welcoming him back for a second show entitled Black White featuring new mixed media paintings and wood sculptural works. It saddens the staff here at AM to have to bring news of the tragic passing of Matt Doust last week from a seizure, just days away from his debut United States solo exhibition that was to be held at the Thinkspace Gallery in Los Angeles. The young Perth-raised painter, who was shortlisted for the Archibald prize in 2011, a tribute to how well regarded his portraiture skills were in Australia. Before heading to New York for his big solo at the new Galerie Perrotin location in November, KAWS will be taking a side trip to Philadelphia for a show opening on October 11th at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA). Artist Herbert Baglione is currently in Frankfurt, Germany for the Street-Art Brazil exhibition put on by the SCHIRN along with other artists like Nunca, Zezao, and more. With the opening festivities scheduled for the 4th, the Brazilian street muralist has been extending his 1000 Shadows project (also see Parma, Italy) into the Deutschland. Over the last couple of weeks, organisers and curators Gage Hamiliton and Matt Wagner (of Hellion Gallery) have assembled 15 international artists to participate in Forest For The Trees. The mural project in Portland, Oregon saw Blaine Fontana (work pictured above), Erik Otto, Kamea Hadar, Gage Hamiliton, J. Shea, Marcelo Macedo, MADSTEEZ, Michael Salter, MHAK, MEGGS, Oyama Enrico Isamu Letter, Sam Rodriguez, Rone, Taka Sudo, Yoskay Yamamoto, Zach Yarrington and Jun Inoue all participate in the city-wide project to bring art to previously bare walls.
