Releases: Amy Sol – “Beacon” & “Aquilon’s Valley” Prints

Later today (2 pm PST), Amy Sol (interviewed) will be releasing two new prints on her online store. Beacon (seen above) is based on an painting that showed last year in Miami (covered) and the original of the Aquilon’s Valley image (seen below) was included in a group show earlier this year (covered). Both limited editions will be in a run of 25, be sized at 15″ x 15″, and cost $100 Discuss Amy Sol here.

Releases: Kent Williams – “OPHTHALM” Book

For those of you who liked the work created for Kent Williams’ show in Los Angeles back in 2011 (covered), he now has a new book with plenty of his paintings of that style gracing it’s pages. In addition, the 12″ x 12″ hardcover (160 pages) features pages from his sketchbook including side by side comparisons of studies and the paintings they became. Head over here to order if interested. Releases: Boris “DELTA” Tellegen x Case Studyo – “Krux13”

It looks like Boris Tellegen (DELTA) has been working on a new project since he participated in a group show (covered) with an installation in Amsterdam last year. Made in collaboration with Case Studyo (also see ESPO), Krux13 is a stool & drawer combo with lines that bring to mind the aesthetic seen from the Dutch writer’s work on the street as well as in the gallery. Openings: Kevin Earl Taylor – “Monument Adrift” @ Breeze Block Gallery

Earlier this month, the Breeze Block Gallery played host to a new show from Kevin Earl Taylor entitled Monument Adrift. The exhibition feature his landscapes that include various creatures which are almost treated architecturally in some instances, placed on pedestals, incorporated into decaying structures, or portrayed as building blocks. Upcoming: Zach Johnsen – ‘The House of Uncommons’ @ Hellion Gallery

Portland based artist Zach Johnsen is busy preparing for his upcoming exhibition entitled The House of Uncommons. The body of work created for the show explores an alternate parliamentary governing system comprised of spirit figures existing outside the periphery of mankind. Aakash Nihalani recently sent over some photos of some tape installations he created for the exterior walls of the new Parrish Art Museum which just relocated to Watermill in a new Herzog & de Meuron building. Rumor Mill: Jeffrey Deitch’s Reign At MOCA Over?

Late last night, LA Weekly reported that Jeffrey Deitch will be leaving the LA MOCA at the end of the month. Despite increasing attendance during his reign at the Los Angeles institution and bringing in a fresh vision for the museum, there continue to be financial woes. Signs of discontent came to a head also with the controversial resignation of chief curator Paul Schimmel as well as multiple artists leaving the board under Deitch’s watch.
