Releases: James Jean – “Nervosa” Print

James Jean (featured), who will be showing in our City of Fire show next week, has just released a beautiful new print on his webstore at OVM entitled Nervosa. Reproduced from one of his delicate and intricate drawings, the edition is limited to 100 and costs $75. Teaser: Scott Musgrove – “Fame I’m Going To Live Forever” @ Dorothy Circus

On June 14h, the Dorothy Circus Gallery in Italy will be playing host to a new body of work from Seattle-based painter Scott Musgrove. Fame I’m Going To Live Forever will be sure to include many of his signature surreal lifeforms, introducing fans in Rome to many new species that they never knew existed. Openings: Matt Dangler – “Center Flame” @ Copro Gallery

A couple weekends ago, AM stopped by the Copro Gallery to check out the new paintings from Matt Dangler (interviewed). On June 1st, Andrew Schoultz and Richard Colman will once again open a joint show together since the last time in Copenhagen in March (covered). Showing: Doze Green – “Luminosity in the Dark Rift” @ Jonathan LeVine

One of the artists displaying works alongside Eric White’s current showing (covered) is New York-born, Northern California-based artist Doze Green, in what is his fourth solo exhibition at Jonathan LeVine. Luminosity in the Dark Rift, features a series of mixed media works on canvas, panel, and paper all demonstrating his signature combinations of cubism, abstract lifeforms, and stylized letterforms leading to rich and complex compositions. Showing: Eric White – “Transmission” @ Jonathan LeVine

A couple weekends ago, the Jonathan LeVine Gallery hosted the opening for Eric White’s (interviewed) solo show – Transmission. For this new body of work, the talented New York-based artist continued to explore his interest in cinematic compositions, in particular scenes where automobiles are figured prominently. The detail in these pieces need to be seen in person to be fully appreciated as they are all beautifully rendered and elicit a sense of a bygone era in the annals of movie-making. Streets / Teaser: Vhils – “Diorama” @ Vera Cortês

As a followup to a piece he put up last week Alfama district of Lisbon, Vhils has also created a mural high above the city as well as in Aveiro (seen above). Teaser: Aya Takano – “To Lose Is To Gain” @ Galerie Perrotin (Paris)

Coming up on June 23rd, Galerie Perrotin in Paris (Saint Claude location) will be opening To Lose Is To Gain, a new solo show from Aya Takano. The Japanese artist and former assistant to Murakami will be bringing her signature style of anime-influenced juxtaposition of natural forms in urban settings. Heavily influenced by her childhood readings of the natural sciences and science fiction, the work melds these interests with the techniques of the Superflat movement. Discuss Aya Takano here.

Over the weekend, Known Gallery presented a solo exhibition by artist Augustine Kofie (featured). Titled Working An Angle, this new collection of artwork continues to show the great craftsmanship and style that Kofie continues to perfect.
