Showing: Kelsey Brookes – “Meditations on Symmetry” @ Compound Project

After a showing in the UK and a refreshing vacation in Hawaii, Kelsey Brookes (featured) has returned to Cali to work on a fresh set of paintings. The new body of work is currently on display at Compound Project in Malibu and is entitled Meditations on Symmetry. Although the pieces still maintain the vibrancy and love for patterns seen in previously, Brookes seems to be exploring a more abstract side of his oeuvre. More photos after the jump…

Teaser: George Condo @ PRISM

Teaser: INSA – “Self Reflection is greater than Self Projection” @ Londonewcastle Project Space

Last Saturday night, the LeBasse Projects in the heart of LA’s Chinatown hosted a new solo show from Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed). Last Friday, Ivory & Black in London celebrated their grand opening with a show from New York-based Cheryl Dunn of Beautiful Losers’ fame. The acclaimed filmmaker and photographer has made a career of documenting urban and youth culture spanning a wide expanse of subjects such as skaters, the homeless, musicians, graffiti, artists, and their processes.
