Preview / Installation: Hush @ Onethirty3

While AM is cavorting artists, fellow bloggers, and industry friends at Art Basel Miami Week, the rest of the art world is not coming to a complete standstill. For example, later tonight, Dec. 1st, across the pond at Onethirty3, Hush (interviewed) will be unveiling a new installation at a new show that will include videos and photographs that document the first year of the gallery and project space. The first art fair AM hit up when we got to Miami was the main Art Basel event. Because it was the special buyer’s preview, we saw many collectors (including us) rushing to their favorite galleries for a chance to buy works from their favorite artists. Last night, Wynwood Walls kicked off Art Basel Week Miami with an opening at their pop-up space with a show featuring artists who have participated in their mural project in the past including Ron English, Futura, Shepard Fairey, Swoon, Kenny Scharf, How & Nosm, Vhils, and more. James spoke to a packed hall of art students eager learn from the accomplished artist. On December 2nd, The Outsiders Gallery on Greek Street in London will be hosting Attack of the Space Waffles, the newest solo from the infamous Invader. Last Friday night, the Above Second Gallery in Hong Kong hosted Arrested Motion’s first curatorial project, East West Connect, with a lineup that represented the diverse selection of art we love and cover for you every day. As the Underbelly Project preps for the festivities for Art Basel Miami Week, word comes (via Brooklyn Street Art) of another satellite undertaking in Paris. Featuring the same daring tactics as in New York, the smaller French version (also organized by Workhorse and PAC) includes artists Conor Harrington, SheOne, Saber, How & Nosm, C215, Alice Pasquini, Will Barras, Futura, and Tristan Eaton. We mentioned this a couple weeks ago, but now is a good time for a reminder to make your way down to Black Rat Projects on December 1st for the unveiling of Swoon’s (interviewed) newest showing. Entitled Mumuration, the project has taken the Brooklyn-based artist three long weeks to create, transforming the gallery into an immersive installation featuring her signature intricate and elaborate paper cuts and sculptural shapings. Remember that secretive and unprecedented undertaking in New York last year entitled the Underbelly Project. Toiling four stories underground in an abandoned subway station in New York, over 100 artists invited by PAC and Workhouse left their mark on the space with murals and graffiti.
