Releases: YESNIK – “Hollow Heaven” & “King of Kings” Skate Decks

Entitled Hollow Heaven & King of Kings, two skatedecks were recently released by YESNIK featuring some of his signature imagery. Drawing from his experience living in an isolated mountain town in Central California, the Los Angeles-based artist has been painting totemic abstracted elements of the natural landscape for the last several years. Signed and numbered in an edition of 25, the two decks can be purchased as a set or separately for $200 & $125 respectively here. Discuss YESNIK here.

Releases: James Jean x Staple – “Washizu” (Bone White Colorway)

If you missed out on the original release of James Jean’s (interviewed) Washizu figure last year, here’s your chance at the second iteration. The Bone White Colorway of the piece created for Staple’s 20th anniversary (produced by Jasper Wong and Mighty Jaxx) will be available starting 12 May 2018, 10am EDT in a 24-hour timed release ($369) with the edition size determined by the number of orders. Tonight (May 10th) in Seattle, Creatura House will be opening a group show entitled Le Carnival Des Animaux. With animals set as the theme, artists Peter Ferguson, Travis Louie (seen above), Josie Morway, Scott Musgrove, Kari-Lise Alexander, Lola Gil, Jim Blanchard, Demi Raven, and Jessica McCourt all contributed something for the exhibition. Releases: Phil Frost – 100%, 400%, 1000% Be@rbricks

Currently on preorder, a set of Be@rbricks from Phil Frost are available at various online art purveyors. Produced by Medicom, the distinctive form is available in the 100%, 400%, 1000% sized and features the signature imagery of the famed artist from the early NY graffiti scene. Measuring 2.5″, 8″, and 28.5″ respectively, the figures will ship late 2018, early 2019 for those interested. Discuss Phil Frost here.

Last weekend, an expansive collection of paintings, sculptures, and site-specific installations was revealed at BEYOND THE STREETS in Los Angeles (1667 N Main St). While in town completing a stunning new mural on the streets of Lisbon (covered), PichiAvo also had a show open at Underdogs Gallery. Entitled Versus, the new exhibition from the Spanish duo features paintings, drawings, and sculptures that form a cohesive body of work showcasing their signature combination of classical art and elements of graffiti culture. Tonight (May 4th) in San Francisco, Chris Konecki will be opening a new show alongside Sam Flores (covered) at 111 Minna. Head On A Swivel features Konecki’s assemblages of found and repurposed objects, mirroring the imagery found in his street murals. The gritty sculptural pieces are constructed dilapidated structures, boarded up windows, graffiti, barbed wire, fencing, and other elements of urban decay.
