Streets: Escif – ‘Open Borders’ Mural @ Palais de Tokyo (Paris)

From May 4th, Palais de Tokyo in Paris will pay tribute to the history and legacy of the May 1968 events with a intervention by Escif, where he reproduced some of the famous writings from that period of student revolts. Releases: KAWS – “Pinnochio” Wood Sculptural Edition

This morning, KAWS announced the surprise release of a PINNOCHIO wood sculptural edition on his IG. Produced in a run of 100, this signed and numbered iteration of the famous puppet, remixed with the Brooklyn-based signature aesthetic, is a wood version of his previously released vinyl figure. Tonight in Los Angeles, Morán Morán Gallery will be opening a solo show from Daniel Arsham entitled Character Study. The title likely references the first part of the New York-based artist’s new body of work, the large scale recreations of his childhood collection of cartoon character patches that adorned his backpack. Coming up on April 28th, Galerie Perrotin’s New York location will be hosting the opening of HEADS↔HEADS, the latest solo from Takashi Murakami. Spanning three floors of the space, the exhibition from the Japanese artist will include a new series of paintings inspired by the work of Francis Bacon as well as Transcendent Attacking a Whirlwind, a 33 feet long piece adorned with gold and platinum leaf that is a homage to Japanese artist Soga Shohaku. Upcoming: D*Face – “FORNEVER” @ Galerie Itinerrance

Earlier tonight, Galerie Itinerrance in Paris opened up a new show from D*Face (interviewed) entitled FORNEVER. For his first solo in France, the British artist presented a diverse mix of paintings on canvas, sculptures, installations, HPMs, serigraphs, and some fresh assemblages (seen here). The new imagery deals with how nothing is forever, with the old replaced with the new and the tensions that come with it.
