Releases: Naoto Hattori Mini-Paintings

If you took our earlier suggestion to add yourself to Naoto Hattori’s mailing list, you would have seen this painting in the recent batch of mini-paintings he released.  Although Hattori is usually recognized for his paintings of psychedelic influenced figments of his imagination, there is a softer side to his work – hauntingly beautiful females often painted in this statuesque texture. Measuring only 4 x 5 inches, this a perfect example of how much detail he puts into each work. Check out some of the […]

Releases: Scott Radke – Sea Monkeys

When we last talked to Scott Radke, he had just finished up his impressive commission piece for uber-collector Mark Parker.  Looks like the next project he worked on were these “Sea Monkeys.”  Radke usually creates his sculptures in batches and this time he has five available.  More pics after the jump.

Releases: Aiko – Original Spray Paint & Gallon Paint Cans

Last week when Aiko opened her dynamic show “Love Monster” (covered) at Joshua Liner Gallery, we noted a great installation created out of hand painted, stenciled and collaged spray paint and gallon paint cans. Since the doors opened, there have been numerous inquiries and requests, but these little gems were unfortunately not available for sale. Well, fans are now in luck because Aiko and the gallery have decided to make these hand created originals available. The price on these gems is a steal: the spray paint cans are $120 and […]

Teaser/Releases: Shepard Fairey Los Angeles Event – Summer 2009

After a whirlwind tour of the nation over the past two years, Shepard Fairey is finally returning for an event in the City of Angels. This event will be a small showcase to illustrate some of Obey’s fine works. This event is presented in conjunction with Arkitip to coincide with the release of the latest issue (#51) of the magazine (featuring Shepard). As with all issues, a special limited edition “artist contribution” gift will be included with every magazine. Previous special collaborations with numerous high profile artists have quickly sold […]

Releases: KAWS 4 Foot Dissected Companion

It was only a matter of time…  KAWS collectors must be in a frenzy this morning as news breaks of a 4-foot dissected companion.  No details yet of when this delicious piece of vinyl drops, but we will be sure to let you know when we hear word.

Teaser/Releases: Nick Walker – “A Sequence of Events” @ Black Rat Press

Bristol vandal Nick Walker returns to Black Rat Press in London on May 28th to unveil his latest show “A Sequence of Events.” If Walker’s past shows are any indication of what we can expect, fans have a nice treat in store for them. With creative pieces that consistently hold their own against work from that other relatively famous artist from Bristol, AM is looking forward to seeing what Walker dreams up this time. The opening will also mark the release and signing for Walker’s […]

Releases: Bronze Pollard – Tim Biskup

Tim Biskup has been teasing his collectors with new images of his 7″ Bronze Pollard on his blog.  We like the new faceted look which mirrors the evolution of style in his paintings.  The figure will be produced with an edition of 44 and will be stamped and initialed on the feet. With his previous bronze release, the 2″ Iki, costing about $300, fans had better start saving now for the June release. More images after the jump.

Interviews/Releases: ABOVE

ABOVE, the prolific street artist best known for his wooden arrow mobiles, clever wordplay pieces and most recently, his social and political commentary stencils, has long been putting up work throughout the world that both brings huge smiles and invokes serious contemplation. As long time fans, AM was thrilled to gain further insight into ABOVE’s recent work, thoughts on the economic crisis and his whirlwind journey during his “South Central” tour. To coincide with this interview, ABOVE just released a hand-pulled screen print on his […]

Showing: “Justice” @ Long Arm Gallery in Bridewell Police Station

One aspect of street art that is particularly attractive is the social commentary that can accompany each piece in meaning and placement.  Two artists that have shown interest in bringing attention to different political causes are C215 and Bruno Leyval as evidenced by some of their Tibetian themed art (covered). For the show “Justice,” they have teamed up with three other artists (Dan23, Least Wanted and MC1984) in a concept show at Long Arm Gallery based on themes of Law and Order that they have […]
