After teasing us with a work-in-progress sculpt last year that will bring to life his Bat Bear painting in a three-dimensional form, it looks like Luke Chueh (interviewed) is set to release his latest art toy soon. More accurately named Gero-Hero or Bat-Bear, the acrylic and ink piece from 2006 featured the Los Angeles-based artist’s iconic sad bear disguised as the famous crime fighting mask crusader. Releases: Dan May – “Road Trippin'” Print

On May 12th, this Thursday (12pm EST), Dan May (interviewed) will be releasing a new print entitled Road Trippin’ featuring some of his signature hairy critters going for a ride. Originally part of his Gentle Creatures print subscription but a few will be made available in his online shop. Produced in an edition of 50, and measuring 14″ X 11″, you can purchase one to add to your collection for $65 if so desired. Discuss Dan May here.

After returning from an inspiring trip to Jordan (covered), Pejac spent the last couple days finalizing his upcoming print release, Wound. Showing an ice breaker leaving a bloody scar as it roams the frozen ocean, it’s one of the works by the Spanish artist that speaks to major environmental issues. Through a minimalist approach, using a limited color palette and lots of negative space to accent the message, Pejac created an emotive image that speaks volumes. We just received some interesting news from Ludo (interviewed) about the launch of his online store and a new edition release. On April 20th at 6pm Paris Time (CET), he will be releasing his new hand finished screen print Palynology or Police Bee through EnjoyTheViolence.com. The image that was first introduced as a large wall piece in Katowice, Poland in 2012 was inspired by the actual use of bees by the police, more precisely, the study of the pollen for special investigations. Just this morning, Hashimoto Contemporary released another print from Scott Scheidly from his pink series of paintings where he pokes fun at dictators & masculine characters from pop culture. Ultimate Ears has collaborated with James Reka, aka RekaOne, on a very recently released (in the US and Europe) artist edition UE Boom2 mobile speaker. Recently, Nigo announced that KAWS will be designing Uniqlo’s UT line for spring. The new collection, scheduled to be on sale April 22nd, will consist of 12 T-shirts with the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. By the first look, they are everything KAWS fans would hope for. The Companions, X’s, gloves, eyes and Chums, all rendered with the American artist’s recognizable line work, have found their way on to the backs and fronts of the tees. Releases: James Jean – “Pomegranate” Print

James Jean (interviewed) recently released woodblock print that he created at the Adachi Institute in Tokyo. The limited edition (run of 50) features a young woman using the red color dripping from a pomegranate as makeup, a beautiful example of the Japan-based artist’s artistic vision and craftsmanship. Releases: Saber – “Refulgent” Color Studies On Paper

Inspired by some recent paintings (example above) he has been working on called the “Refulgent” series, SABER (interviewed) has recently released some color studies on paper (seen below) for purchase on his website. These pieces on textured water color paper were created using spraypaint, acrylic, charcoal pencil, and oil stick and help loosen the Los Angeles-based graffiti artist up before he tackles the larger paintings like the one seen above.
