Releases: El Mac – “Prayer” Print

Later today, at a random time here, El Mac will be releasing a rare print through Moon Editions in San Francisco. Entitled Prayer, this limited edition is based on a painting from a show earlier this year and will come in three different colors – Vermilion Red (edition of 49), Metallic Copper (edition of 39), and Teal Blue variant (Edition of 9). The print is 21″ x 28″ and is a two-color serigraph (signed and numbered). More photos after the jump…

Publications: KAWS for Whitewall’s Winter Luxury Issue

For this year’s winter luxury issue, Whitewall invited KAWS to design the cover (in two versions). In addition to this collaboration on the front of the glossy, the magazine will publish a 12-page studio visit feature including an in-depth interview, portraits of the artist, images of his new work, and KAWS’ own sketches and blueprints of his sculptures and paintings. Tonight at 6pm, Amoeba Music in Hollywood will be hosting a signing with Justin Bua featuring his The Legends of Hip Hop book, illustrated entirely with his paintings. Bua chose 50 giants in the movement’s history for his special form of portraiture and included essays detailing how they affected his life personally and how it shifted the culture. Starting soon, Jeff Soto (interviewed) has a series of prints he will be releasing, all through his online store – Potatostamp. The first will be the popular Snow Owl image (from his show in France), a timed release 12″ x 15″ print on wood on sale starting November 16th (*date was wrong originally so changed it) at noon PST for $55 + shipping. Events: James Jarvis Book Release @ The Standard Shop NYC

Tonight, at The Standard Shop, NYC, acclaimed British illustrator James Jarvis will unveil his first new narrative in five years, De Profundis, with a public signing event from 6-8pm. Accompanying the book’s release, The Standard Shop has organized an exhibition of Jarvis’ work – including original works for sale – complete with an original site-specific piece on the Shop’s windows from November 10th through December 8th.

That Lotus War Pyramid print from James Jean (featured) that we told you about a couple weeks ago is now available online. For the New Yorkers out there, this new release was sold at Jean’s signing at Reed Space, but now fans everywhere can purchase one for themselves. The five-color, 26 x 30 inch limited edition is signed and numbered and will be produced with a run of 555. A couple more pics after the jump…
