Update: “A Cry For Help” @ Thinkspace Gallery

Preview: “Further” Group Show @ Joshua Liner Gallery

Tomorrow night, the Joshua Liner Gallery will host “Further,” a group exhibition featuring works by artists Damon Soule, David Choong Lee, MARS-1, Nome Edonna, Oliver Vernon, Robert Hardgrave and Tomokazu Matsuyama. The exhibition coincides with the release of a new book of the same name that brings together the seven artists and their varied takes on contemporary abstraction, mysticism, futurism, and surrealism. Ron English x Simpsons Episode

Looks like the animated world of TV and our art world collide again (see Souther Salazar x Family Guy & Shepard Fairey x South Park). This time, it’s Ron English (featured) commissioned to create a variation on his Homer/Jackson Pollock motif – in 10 seconds. Make sure you check out The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special — In 3-D! Releases – KAWS – “OriginalFake 4′ Companion”

Confirmed for a noon release tomorrow (probably eastern time), the last in a series of 4 foot companions from KAWS will be up for grabs. The black dissected will sell out quickly no doubt at anywhere from 4-6K we would guess. Good luck! Preview: Krista Huot – “Nepenthe” @ Gallery 1988 (SF)

This Saturday night, January 9th, Krista Huot (interviewed) returns to Gallery 1988 in San Francisco with a new body of work. The solo show, entitled “Nepenthe” or translated as “drug of forgetfulness” mentioned in ancient Greek mythology appears to be loosely based on various fairytales such as Snow White, Alice In Wonderland, Rapunzel, Cinderella among others. Krista is also planning on painting the walls of the gallery to look like a storybook forest so we are looking forward to seeing how it all turns out. […]

Releases: Shepard Fairey – “Let Fury Have the Hour”

Up now on Obeygiant.com, a new Shepard Fairey silkscreen print entitled “Let Fury Have the Hour,” featuring artwork created for the same-named upcoming documentary about The Clash (AKA “The Only Band that Matters”). Fairey and Strummer – a classic combo, just like chocolate and peanut butter.

“At Work” with Jeff Koons

Artinfo has an interesting article that gives a insider look into Jeff Koons’ studio and more importantly, some insight into the man himself. The article was written by Samantha Peale who worked under Koons as an assistant. Her story definitely gave us more of an appreciation for Koons creative process and his art.
