Openings: Steve “ESPO” Powers @ White Walls

AM visited Steve “ESPO” Powers on the opening day of his “This Woman’s Work” show (previewed) at White Walls in San Francisco. ESPO held back no punches as he furiously assembled, painted and tagged an entire show in just a few days. After recently completing his Philadelphia Love Letter Project, it came as a pleasant surprise to see ESPO getting back to his early roots with hundreds, if not thousands, of tags and throw-ups covering almost all indoor wall surfaces. An installation of a hundred […]

Streets: Blu in Lima

As always, AM is right on top of what Blu is up to, no matter where in the world he is. After finishing two incredible murals in Bogota, the artist hopped on a plane to Lima, where he got straight to work on yet another amazing piece. Writes Blu of the shot above, “the ossuary background is ready”, so we’re excited to see if there’s more to come. Check out some more progress shots after the jump.

Last Friday, Kelsey Brookes opened his show “Bigger, Brighter, Bolder” in San Diego at Quint Contemporary Art. The pieces certainly didn’t disappoint, with the detailed work taking viewers on a “trippy” journey. Check out all the pics after the jump.

Looks like intrepid traveler, JR, added Abu Dhabi on the list of places he has visited with his street photography.  To coincide with the annual Abu Dhabi Art Fair, the french wheatpaster was asked to create a large scale installation for the increasingly art-infused capital of the arab emirate. Take a look at a couple more pics after the jump.

Chris Berens fans attending Art Basel are in for a treat his year as Sloan Fine Art will feature several pieces from him in their booth at SCOPE as a preview to his big New York show opening at their gallery on December 16th. Berens’ soft focus and imaginative work is a result of a unique and time-consuming process and are often homages to the Dutch master painters of yore. We have become increasingly enamored with his work after recent shows in Seattle and Amsterdam […]
