Day 2 of Baby Tattooville kicked off with a presentation by Murphy Design and then moved on to a talk with Bob Dob and Joe Ledbetter about the process of art toy making. After coming back from Jeff Soto’s studio after dinner. The attendees and the artists came back to the resort and got a very special treat. An authenticÂ “life drawing” session was awaiting… not only forÂ the participants, but also for the artists to experience. This session took us back to an art school 101 tradition… study of the “natural”Â human form. Yes,Â a fully nude female to modelÂ and holdÂ seductiveÂ poses for 20 mins at a time. After a quick round of mingling andÂ refreshments, the participants of Baby Tattooville were invited to the heart of the Jeff Soto factory.Â Once there, the attendees were treated to a â€œpreviewâ€ of Jeffâ€™s upcomingÂ solo show “Turning in Circles” at the Riverside Art Museum in December (previously teased). Baby Tattooville started off with an introduction panel of participating artists as well as passing out of some items to participants. One of these was a limited print by Shag that doubled as a name tag. After the introduction we were instructed to make a mark on a canvas with a charcoal marker which Michael Whelan will convert into a work of art over the weekend.Â Now we are off to Jeff Soto’s dinner for the “Art Jam” as well as dinner…Â More to follow. The “Art For Hope” benefit (previously mentioned) took place at Merry Karnowsky Gallery last night. This was a special “one night only” group show to raise funds for the Obama campaign.
