On June 15th & 16th, Askew One visited Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in a project organized by Galartis auction house and the MyFinBec creative platform. During those two days, the New Zealand-based artist painted a 3 x 2 meter mural on 84 wood wine cases at the showroom for the street art auction that took place June 22. Currently at the The Museum of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium, Slinkachu has some works on view as part of a new group show Manufactories of Caring Space-Time. Not only does the UK-based artist have his signature miniatures on view that are part of the museum’s permanent collection inside but also has some installations outdoors as is his practice. John Andrew Perello aka JonOne or Jon156, recently teamed up with PrintThemAll.com and Idem Studio in Paris to produce his latest limited edition. Last weekend, Library Street Collective opened a new solo from Faile (featured) entitled The Size of the Fight, the duo’s first show in Detroit. Along with originals, prints, and sculptural works, one of the walls featured a mural from the Patrick’s as they took inspiration from the Motor City’s revival in the last several years. The Brooklyn-based artists also unveiled five large-scale painted, stenciled, and silkscreened works on wood panels in the adjacent alleyway aka “The Belt,” the gallery’s public exhibition space (more on this later). Tomorrow night (August 29th) in Amsterdam, Kallenbach Gallery will be opening a duo show from Dave Kinsey (featured) & Jaybo Monk. Entitled Van Gogh Ate My Dog, the new body of work from the two takes inspiration from the life and work of the Dutch Master with the American artist Kinsey contributing his distinctive still life paintings alluding to Van Gogh’s distinctive subject matter while the Berlin-based Jaybo wasn’t shy with his ear references including a an interesting sculptural piece. Three years after his debut show (covered) at BC Gallery, Franco Fasoli aka Jaz will be opening his new solo tomorrow night (June 29th) in Berlin. Entitled Pretension Of Greatness, the new body of work from the Buenos Aires artist features his newer technique with collage, drawing imagery from the tumultuous modern history of his country. On July 8th, Distinction Gallery in Escondido, California will be opening a solo show by Andreas England entitled Superlife Uncut. On view will be the Swedish artist’s signature humerous portraiture of an aging superhero and the details of his everyday mundane life. Timed to be on display during the San Diego Comic-Con, the exhibition will be perfect subject matter for fans to make the trek up north to catch a glimpse of England’s paintings.
