Preview: Know Show @ Basel Week (Miami)

Mark Murphy from Murphy Design Fine Art Editions will be at Art Basel Miami again this year with his “KNOW” exhibit showcasing over 90 artists (many of which are well known to our readers).  The show will be at the Gen Art Vanguard Fair from December 4th – 9th.  Judging from last years show, we feel this is a great chance to own works from well known artists at an affordable price since the pieces are mainly 10′ x 10″ in size.  Look after the […]

Teaser: Jeff Soto x Modus Films x Arrested Motion

Here is a little teaser video for the project we are working on with the good people at Modus Films. It’s a mini-documentary on Jeff Soto and his first ever museum show. The exhibit is entitled “Turning in Circles” (teased) and will open on December 13th at the Riverside Art Museum. Stopped by yesterday to take a look at the installation – it will be epic. AM will have a preview for you in the next several days as well as more surprises.

Preview/Interviews: Travis Louie @ FUSE Gallery

Travis Louie has been hard at work with two shows opening this month – the first being at Merry Karnowsky Berlin (previewed) and the second being at the FUSE Gallery in New York. Fortunately, he still had some time to sit down and answer some questions for us and send us some preview pics for his “Strange Neighbors” show opening on November 29th at FUSE gallery. Check after the jump for the images as well as our interview where he talks about future collaborations, the […]

Youtube Live: David Choe, Sam Flores, Alex Pardee & Jeremy Fish

Sam Flores, David Choe, Jeremy Fish and Alex Pardee were invited by Youtube in conjuction with Upper Playground to do some live-painting on a “cube” as a “pre-show” to the YOUTUBE LIVE concert in San Francisco a several days ago.  The results were quite spectacular and unique.  Check the video above and photos after the jump.

Releases/Benefit: MOCA Ryden Silkscreen

Mark Ryden teamed up recently with MOCA to release a limited edition silkscreen print entitled “Silence.” The print measures 28 x 22 inches and is a signed and numbered edition of 50 with 10 Artist proofs. “Meticulously crafted, printed on finely handmade paper from Bhutan, and carefully dyed and aged, the work is completed by two embossings created in the final process—a beautifully hand-sculpted bee and the printer’s chops into the corners.” The print will put you back about $6000 and supposedly only about 20 […]

For Sale: Banksy Wall

A story came out today about a section of wall for sale on ebay that had a Banksy stencil on it from his times in Jamaica.  The wall is free … but the catch is you have to purchase a set of photographs (one of which seen below) that chronicle the “deconstruction” of the wall – starting bid 100K.  The photos are entitled “The Rock” taken by photographer Peter Dean Rickards of The Afflicted Yard, presumably the “owner” of the Banksy. So if you have […]

Openings: Kuksi & Rocha @ Joshua Liner Gallery

The frigid gusting wind on Manhattan’s west side did nothing to discourage an art-hungry crowd from attending Saturday evening’s Kris Kuksi and Pat Rocha openings at Joshua Liner Gallery. As mentioned in our preview, Kuksi’s work really needs to been seen in person to be believed. Each piece is obsessively constructed of hundreds upon hundreds of individual parts to form a frightening yet beautiful world of men and monsters. And with some works measuring over 10 feet in length, one could spend hours and hours […]

Preview/Interviews: Amy Sol @ Mondo Bizzarro

Amy Sol’s “Smoke & Water” opens at Mondo Bizzarro Gallery on December 6th in Italy. With her show still being about 2 weeks away, fans of Amy Sol’s work are on the edge of their seats. Luckily, Amy has been keeping us in the loop through her blog. We know that many of you can’t get enough of Amy so we asked her some questions. Here is an excerpt from the interview where she talks a little about one of her pieces: “there is a […]

Aakash Nihalani

Recently saw the work of New York artist Aakash Nihilani and thought his simple concept was quite fresh and interesting. His work includes tape installations on the streets as well as canvas pieces. 17 Frost and Bose Pacia hosted an event today in Williamsburg, where you could meet Nihalani and perhaps see some of his impromptu tape work. If you missed this, his show “Extended” will be showing to the public next Saturday, the 29th. The gallery is located at 17 Frost Street (between Union […]

ANRA Scholarship: Children’s art contest

Its tough being an up and coming artist in the world today! Its an uphill battle for most artists trying to get your work recognized and accepted at galleries. So its truly unique to see a young artist take time to go above and beyond the call of duty… Since AM last saw Ana Bagayan at Baby Tattooville, she has been busy getting ready for her upcoming show with Billy Shire and recently announced a show with Dorothy Circus in Italy. Yet with a such a heavy […]
