Streets: Blu for “Draw The Line Festival” (Italy)

Continuing to tear through Europe (Bologna, Palestra, Jesi, Krakow, Poznań, Fabriano, Cologne, Grottaglie, Valencia, Italy) at a torrid pace since March, Blu has hit up his home country again at the Draw The Line Festival in Campobasso, Italy. This new wall caused some initial controversy, of which the Italian street artist is not unfamiliar with after the MOCA incident, and features his views on war and a biting rendition of how the military produces their soldiers. FAME Festival ’11: Ericailcane

As is often the case, where Blu goes, his compatriot Ericailcane goes. We only brought you the “billiard table” mural from Blu yesterday but actually they both visited Southern Italy together this year to get up for the FAME Festival. Fame Fest ’10: Erica Il Cane

With the opening of the Fame Festival set for this Saturday night, Erica Il Cane squeezed in two last murals in Grottaglie. The Bologna-based artist’s murals are straight from fairy tales with the feel of old-school illustrations found in antique books, but in wonderful large scale. Take a look at another piece – “the frog prince” – after the jump as well as a video of his unusual technique of handpainted his screenprints.

Probably one of the last artists (see other artists here) to stop by Grottaglie before the Fame Festival opening next weekend is street miniature photographer Slinkachu. The London-based artist worked his magic with his street installations in the Italian town that would probably go unnoticed if you didn’t know where to look. When we referred to a look at Word to Mother (interviewed) studio several days ago, we mentioned he was in Italy working on his efforts for the Fame Festival. Well, here is a look now at the murals he put up while in Grottaglie. He also found time to work on an installation for the gallery show and some hand finished (with watercolor) screenprints.
