Currently at Château La Coste in France, JR (interviewed) has an exhibition on view featuring a nifty installation that is a play on some of his most well-known works like his Women Are Heroes project in Kenya. Entitled Mind the Gap, the piece in the Renzo Piano Pavilion features a series of hanging circular tracks that have miniature trains running in different directions, all pasted with the French artist’s photographs. French photographer and artist JR will be releasing a new lithograph print via Social-Animals.net on Tuesday, the 9th of December. The lithograph was produced at Idem Studio in Paris, and features one of the images taken during his recent Women Are Heroes project in Port of Le Havre, France (covered). Building on his successful collaboration with the NYC ballet earlier this year (covered), the print shows a ballerina sitting in a stack of iron containers. The retrospective features shots of his public works as well as the black and-white photographs used for the street installations from a wide range of projects ranging from FACE 2 FACE to THE WRINKLES OF THE CITY to WOMEN ARE HEROES. Filmed and edited in his signature style, this The Wrinkles of the City video documents JR’s recent project in Shanghai which included an exhibition (covered) and street work (covered). With the general release of his acclaimed Women Are Heroes documentary set for this week in his home country, although not in the film, this footage should only excite the French street photographer’s fans even more before the worldwide release.
