Brendan Monroe Paints Facebook Offices

Like Aakash Nihalani (interviewed) did in 2011 (covered) and how David Choe (featured) famously did (and was rewarded handsomely) in the early days, Brendan Monroe (interviewed) was recently invited in to paint part of the Facebook HQ compound. Working on a large wall, the Bay Area-based artist created a topographical mural with the his signature organic and biological infused imagery. Streets: Ludo (Amsterdam)

Ludo (interviewed) recently spent a few days in Amsterdam, leaving his mark around the city and its canals. Pasting mostly skull based pieces, the Paris-based artist left some familiar images as well as introduced few new concepts. As seen in the photos, the works were done around the Jordaan neighborhood of the city, an area already known for great street art. From iconic Faile images, large The London Police murals, to Space Invaders, this old part of the of the capital is now richer which these works by Ludo. […]

Last week, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) premiered his debut solo show with Lazarides Rathbone entitled Moment of Impact. For his fans in London, the American artist has assembled a selection of provocative mixed media canvases and hyper-realist sculptures. Some pieces like his masked full-size figures are direct translations of his street interventions while others are produced for the gallery setting like the leg which seems to be bursting through a canvas or arms committing seppuku. Streets: Meggs (Los Angeles)

Recently in Los Angeles, Meggs teamed up with mobile game company Com2uS to paint an expansive mural promoting new and original content surrounding Summoners War. The new piece covering 2000 square feet of wall in Downtown LA (568 South Sante Fe Ave) features well known characters from the game such as Arch Angel, Dragon, and Angelmon rendered in the Melbourne-based artist’s signature aesthetic. From candlelit backrooms to small forest clearings, Incantation sees Roq la Rue Conjuring up a group show based on ritual and mysticism. Occultism is often seen as heretical to mainstream society, but the beliefs and practices are centuries old and firmly rooted in nature and our surroundings. AM recently joined the masses at Robischon Gallery for the January 15th opening of Christian Rex van Minnen’s Golden Memes. The show is a homecoming for the New York-based artist, who brought his grotesque re-imagining of the Dutch Golden Age to Denver. The exhibition includes ten pieces of new work, most large in scale, making the bizarre imagery even more powerful. Melbourne based Liam Snootle has been impressing us with his origami inspired creations both on the street and on canvas. Snootle uses spray paint in a range of contrasting tonal increments to create a series of angular shapes. The paintwork is tight and the depth created is very effective. Along with Nick Farhi’s solo (covered), Neochrome Gallery is currently showing another show, Surface of Venus by Jamie Sneider, her first in Europe.
