Upcoming: “Cat Art Show” @ 101/Exhibit

On Saturday, January 25th, the newly located 101/Exhibit will be opening a Cat Art Show in Los Angeles with a portion of the proceeds will benefit Stray Cat Alliance. The roster features an interesting mix of  artists including Antony Micallef, Clayton Brothers, FAILE, Gary Baseman, Jonathan Yeo, Justin Bower, Kevin E. Studio Visits: Wayne White

AM recently got the chance to visit Wayne White in his Los Angeles studio. His workspace is as amazing and surreal as you would imagine, including four foot tall eyes and an oversized mask of former president Lyndon Johnson. Moniker Art Fair, one of the events on the week’s busy schedule in London, opened with a private view on the 17th of October. Openings: Blek Le Rat – “Ignorance is Bliss” @ Jonathan LeVine

Fans of street art know the legend of French artist Blek Le Rat. The pioneer of stenciling has garnered praise from notable peers such as Banksy and Shepard Fairey. We recently stopped by Jonathan LeVine Gallery to catch Blek’s latest exhibition entitled Ignorance is Bliss. This large show took over all three spaces in LeVine’s gallery and featured canvased works and a golden sculpture of his interpretation of Michelangelo’s David. Discuss Blek Le Rat here.

Releases: “OUTSIDE THE LINES” Coloring Book @ MOCA

Last week, the MOCA in Los Angeles held a release party for OUTSIDE THE LINES: An Artists’ Coloring Book for Giant Imaginations, a publication curated by Souris Hong-Porretta (seen directly below). Many of the animators, cartoonists, fine artists, graphic artists, illustrators, musicians, outsider artists, photographers, street artists, and video game artists made it out to the event to interact with fans and sign copies. Openings: Kai & Sunny – “Caught by the Nest” @ Subliminal Projects

Over the weekend, artistic duo Kai & Sunny opened up a new exhibition in Los Angeles at Subliminal Projects. Entitled Caught By The Nest, the new body of work from the British artists featured monochromatic pieces inspired by the book The Reason I Jump, written by Naoki Higashida and translated by David Mitchell, a long time collaborator with Kai & Sunny and author of Cloud Atlas. Streets: Wooster Collective 10 year Anniversary (DUMBO)

The recent extensive showcase of street art put together by the Wooster Collective for their ten year anniversary exhibition (covered) at Jonathan LeVine Gallery was just the tip of the iceburg. In the streets of Williamsburg & Dumbo, the collective got ahold of some prime wall space for some of the artists involved to work on.
