A site-specific installation by Dalek is scheduled to open to the public on January 23rd (6-10pm) at the Redux Contemporary Art Center with Dalek in attendance. We wonder if his “space monkeys” will be making an appearance although they have been seen less and less in his work. On October 15th, the Urban Dawn II exhibition organized by curator19.90 will get underway in Beirut, Lebanon. Over the weekend, POW! WOW! Hawaii kicked off the festivities with a show curated by Thinkspace at the Honolulu Museum of Art School entitled Exploring The New Contemporary Movement, something they have done for the last two years before this (see 2015 & 2014). As in the past, artists were asked to contribute works that conform to a certain format, leading to a visually congruent and display of artworks. This Saturday night (January 9th), Interesni Kazki (interviewed) will be opening their solo show at the 529 West 20th Street location of Jonathan LeVine Gallery. Entitled Sacred Gravitation, the new body of work will feature both paintings and drawings from the Ukrainian duo that highlight their mystical and Dali-esque imagery, something that makes their street murals distinctive and unique. Set to share the 529 West 20th Street location of Jonathan LeVine Gallery with Dalek starting January 9th, Interesni Kazki (interviewed) has been diligently preparing a new body of work for their fans in New York. Sacred Gravitation will be the Ukranian duo’s first exhibition with the gallery and features paintings, steeped in mysticism and influenced by their love for Dali and Moebius, that mirror the imaginative and surrealistic imagery they use on the streets.
