Circle Culture Gallery in Berlin is opening Cult, a solo show by American artist Aaron Rose, tonight (September 18th). This exhibition will be the last one in their old space at Gipsstraße 11, after which they will move to a new space at Potsdamerstraße 68 in Berlin. Rose is one of the leading names of the modern urban art movement. On Thursday night, September 19th, the Long Beach Museum of Art will host the opening of a new group exhibition entitled Risqué {dirty little pictures}. Curated by Nathan Spoor and Jeff McMillan, the works from the show will be displayed on the museum’s second-floor Kilsby Gallery and will include 40 8 x 10″ paintings from 40 artists including Audrey Kawasaki (seen above), Ron English, Eric White, Glenn Barr, Brendan Monroe, Aron Wiesenfeld, and more. Openings: Augustine Kofie – “Structurally Sound” @ White Walls

Over the weekend, the White Walls Gallery in San Francisco presented new urban abstractions from Augustine Kofie. Entitled Structurally Sound, the new works continued the Los Angeles-based artist’s post graffiti aesthetic with thoughts of “sound structures and systems of reliability” when creating the paintings. On September 28th, the Martha Otero Gallery in Los Angeles will be hosting a new solo show from Tim Biskup (featured) entitled Charge. Along with a show coming up in London, French “photograffeur” JR (interviewed) also will be opening a solo museum exhibition soon at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati. The show officially opens on September 21 (more details on the schedule and associated activities here) and will feature wheatpasted images, photography, video projections, sculpture, as well as the famous mobile phone booth which has been spreading the street artist’s Inside Out love. Openings: Dave Kinsey – “Black White” @ FFDG

Over a week ago, Dave Kinsey opened up his solo show, Black and White (previewed), at Fecal Face Dot Gallery. The show featured a series of affordable 8″ x 10″ paintings on chipboard, as well painted wooden sculptures and works on canvas. Many of the works were named after people who had made significant contributions to San Francisco’s past. Last Thursday, renowned artist and AM favorite Barry McGee made his debut with New York blue chip gallery Cheim & Read. American street artist Mark Jenkins (interviewed) recently visited Cologne in Germany where he created some new work for CityLeaks Festival at Ruttkowski;68 Gallery atelier. With a help of his collaborator, Sandra Fernandez, the artist created six new, site specific works that were than placed to different locations around town. After participating in couple of street art festivals all over Europe, British muralist and artist Phlegm recently visited the East Coast of US. During his visit, he painted three huge murals, each quite different than the others, but all so recognizable and unique.
