Release: Nathan Ota – “Ikiru”

It looks like Nathan Ota’s new book Ikiru is up for preorder now from ZERO+ Publishing. The 144 page hardcover covers the LA-based artist’s work from his early street art to illustrations and gallery pieces to recent collaborations with the street artist RISK. Openings: Know Hope – “The Abstract And The Very Real” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Last night, Lazarides Rathbone in London opened their doors to the new solo show from Know Hope. The Abstract And The Very Real consisted of clusters of paintings and assemblages, often utilizing found objects, that collectively put forth the Tel Aviv-based artist’s ode to the human spirit, manifested in his signature characters, imagery, and motifs. Marina Abramovic Kickstarter

It looks like Marina Abramovic is the latest creative to turn to Kickstarter to fund a project or idea. What she wants to accomplish is quite ambitious as the New York-based Serbian performance artist hopes to create an institute that will serve as her legacy and homage to time-based and immaterial art – the epnonymously named Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI). The prolific Aryz is at it again – this time in Norway for the Oslo Triennial of Mural Art. Featuring the young Spanish street muralist’s signature faded palette, the surreal piece was painted on the side of a multi-story building and featured a skeletal man and a young girl. Sat One & ROID Paint Boeing 737

Sat One & ROID recently came together for an enormous collaboration set up by The Hanger One Project where they were tasked with painting a Boeing 737. Battling the elements as well as fighting to get the hang of the tricky curved aluminum surface, the two European graffiti artists were able to create an epic piece that melding their styles perfectly. MOCAtv recently released a video detailing the novel work of John Knuth and his little “assistants.” By feeding pigments to the over 250,000 common houseflies that were used in this new series of paintings, Knuth is able to create his artwork from the regurgitations over the canvases that form the insects’ environment. Chinese artist DALeast (interviewed), was back in Rochester, NY, last week. Almost exactly one year since last time he visited the city (covered), he once again left a recognizable mural for the Wall Therapy festival.
