Streets: Shepard Fairey (Toronto)

After a recent set of murals realized in Los Angeles, Chicago, Philly, New York, Berlin, and Johannesburg, the tour concluded in Toronto for Shepard Fairey (featured) and the Obey crew. Some of the main pieces were created at the The Gladstone Hotel & Tattoo if you are local and want to hunt these down. Continuing their art related efforts, Urban Nation recently invited Shepard Fairey’s (featured) in for their One Wall Project. Intermixing the text “Make Art Not War,” “Eyes Open Mind Open,” and “Rise Above,” with his familiar imagery, the Los Angeles-based street artist has left a visible mark in the hip Berlin district for the fans of Obey. Last week, we shared some photos with our readers of Shepard Fairey’s (featured) new mural in NYC for the L.I.S.A. Project. During his time in New York, he also hosted the official NYC launch of his signature design for this year’s Hennessy V.S Limited Edition artist bottle at ARENA. Streets: Shepard Fairey (New York)

Last week, Shepard Fairey (featured) visited New York City to show a little love for his fans in the Big Apple. Mr. Obey and his posse worked on a massive six story mural on Bowery just off of Broome as he took advantage of the Manhattan skyline with the help of the L.I.S.A. project. Entitled We Own The Future, this fresh creation took over three days to finish and we stopped by to document the process from beginning to end. Discuss Shepard Fairey here. With The Provocateurs set to open tomorrow (July 31st) at Block 37 in Chicago, some of the street artists involved have been hard at work getting up around town, not the least of which was Shepard Fairey, who curated the massive group exhibition. Shepard Fairey x Hennessy – VS Cognac Bottle Launch (Los Angeles)

A little over a week ago, Hennessy held the Los Angeles launch of their latest artist created V.S Limited Edition bottle at the Create nightclub. Created by Shepard Fairey (featured), the new version featuring his distinctive OBEY imagery joined the line of previous collaborations with Futura (covered) & KAWS (covered), and Os Gemeos (covered). AM recently had the pleasure of staying at The Line Hotel in Los Angeles, a project put together by the good people behind the Ace Hotel among others. Last month, we brought you photos from Shepard Fairey’s (featured) big museum exhibition in Charleston at The Halsey. As you may have guessed from the nature of his work, he also put in time on the streets.
