Upcoming: Rostarr – “Turbo Arena” @ Anonymous Gallery

This Thursday night (February 7th) in Mexico City, the artist known as Rostarr (featured) will be opening a solo show at Anonymous Gallery. Otherwise known as Romon Kimin Yang, the New York-based painter will be bringing with him all new works collectively entitled Turbo Arena, all featuring his signature blend of iconography, calligraphy, and graphics. Releases: Nick Walker – “Love Vandal” Print

For those who have art-loving Valentines out there, on February 7th, Nick Walker (interviewed) will be releasing his Love Vandal print on his website. The edition size will be 150 with the image taken from a street piece from Paris that you may remember we shared with you back in April of last year. Openings: Victor Castillo – “Under Heavy Measures” @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery

On Saturday night, the Merry Karnowsky Gallery welcomed in Victor Castillo for his new solo show entitled Under Heavy Measures. The new body of work included pieces on paper and canvas, sketches, and some sculptures that look like they came straight out of his paintings including the LA-based artist’s signature red sausage noses (see video). Attendees were treated to vivid and troubled imagery juxtaposing the innocence of children and an illustrative style with dark subject matter fraught with ominous creatures, political overtones, and violence. Preview: Matthew Palladino @ Eli Ridgeway (ARCO Madrid ’13)

Later this month, the ARCOMadrid fair will see Eli Ridgeway display all new works from Matthew Palladino (interviewed) at their booth. AM recently stopped by San Francisco to visit Guerrero Gallery and caught the setup by Remio & Tim Diet as they prepared for their opening this Saturday. Openings: DZINE – “Victory” @ Dallas Contemporary

Chicago-based artist DZINE has recently opened another stunning museum exhibition, this time at the Dallas Contemporary. The show entitled Victory features an impressive selection of new pieces from all the medium’s DZINE is known for, including large-scale mandala paintings, tricked-out cars, ornate chandeliers and other installations. Together, the collection of works leads viewers to examine the human desires for success and recognition, through the lens of the artist’s Puerto Rican background. Victory is on view until March 31. Openings: Dabs Myla – “All Good Things…” @ Metro Gallery

The Metro Gallery in Melbourne very recently hosted the opening reception for Dabs Myla’s latest solo show – All Good Things… Along with paintings featuring the whimsical cartoonish characters which are often seen in their outdoor work, the duo also transformed the space with wall murals and installations (a regular occurrence for those familiar with their exhibitions). Update: Camille Rose Garcia

Camille Rose Garcia (interviewed) recently posted about a new project she is working on – an illustration for something McSweeneys Publishing is involved in. Along with some in progress pics, she also announced that today at Noon (Pacific Time), she will be releasing some prints and items (on her webstore) found from organizing around her studio.
