Streets: ESPO – “Train To Always” (Brooklyn)

The prolific Steve “ESPO” Powers, who recently gifted NYC with a re-showing of the work from part of the Art In The Streets show (covered), has also posted up a photo of a mural from a corner of Brooklyn. The clever wall, Train To Always, features a mock map of train stations like “So So”, “Maybe”, “We’ll See”, and of course “Always”, among many others. Via The World’s Best Ever. Discuss ESPO here.

Releases: David Flores – “Deathead”

Not only has David Flores been busy in the streets and in the gallery, he has also been working on a new figure entitled Deathead. The 10″ tall reinterpretation of Mickey melded with Totenkopf symbol utilized by the Prussian army during the time of Frederick the Great will be produced by Bic Plastics and reportedly come in five colorways. Teaser: Terry Richardson – “TERRYWOOD” @ OHWOW

On February 24th, the always provocative Terry Richardson’s will be opening his first solo showing in Los Angeles at the OHWOW Gallery. The busy fashion and celebrity photographer had only recently exhibited in New York at the end of last year with work focused on his mom and dad (covered). This time around, the new snapshots are entitled semi-eponymously TERRYWOOD and is no doubt inspired by multiple facets of Hollywood life. Discuss Terry Richardson here.

Openings: Sam Gibbons – “Directed By Kilroy” @ Jonathan LeVine

Opening recently alongside Stephan Doitschinoff at Jonathan LeVine Gallery was Baltimore-based artist Sam Gibbons. In his first solo exhibition with the gallery, the artist unveiled his latest show Directed by Kilroy, a series of paintings on custom cut wood panels shaped in the silhouette of his subjects. Utilizing bold colors along with exaggerated & elastic forms, he explores the themes of morality and carnal desire. Video: JR x Massive Attack – “Encrages” @ Galerie Perrotin

Remember when renowned photographer JR (featured) recently returned to his home country of France for a solo exhibition entitled Encrages at Galerie Perrotin. The fresh show took over the spacious two story Paris gallery as well as utilized the ample outdoor area with his signature large-scale wheatpasting. During the opening night, we also showed you the pics from the surprise visit by Massive Attack and a short video of their live performance. Preview: Hush @ 941 Geary

Just weeks after unveiling an installation at Onethirty3 (covered), the UK based Hush (interviewed)  is currently working on his next exhibition scheduled to open on Saturday, January 21st. Returning to San Francisco after a showing back in 2010 (covered), the indoor-outdoor specialist will be presenting his gritty Asian-inspired creations at 941 Geary.
