Phil Noto – “New Machines” @ Bold Hype

This past spring, comic artist Phil Noto exhibited a nice show at New York’s Bold Hype Gallery. The body of work entitled New Machines comprised of over thirty fresh works with Noto’s dose of 60s & 70s retro style & flare. With much of the subject matter focusing on his refined females in many familiar nostalgic surroundings, we found ourselves thoroughly enjoying his fine art work. Check it all out after the jump.

Tonight at LeBasse Projects in the Los Angeles Chinatown, Melissa Haslam (featured) will be presenting a new body of work that promises an increased attention to detail and realism as she continues to refine her technique. Drawing her inspiration from the Japanese subculture of fashioning oneself to look like stuffed animals or Kigurumi, the Australia-based painter uses this metaphor to explore ideas social role-playing.   Last week, AM went along to the opening night at Tony’s, London, to grab some pics and get a feel of East London’s Burning Candy exhibition A Fist full of Paint.  Knowing the exterior had been brilliantly tagged with a paint filled fire extinguisher, it was good to see the interior had been done in the same style. A couple of weeks back AM went along to take a look at Meggs‘ first London solo exhibition entitled Inner Demons.
